Barcelona Gothic Quarter VIP Tapas and Wine Tour

Description
This Barcelona Gothic Quarter food tour takes you through the oldest part of the city, where Roman walls meet medieval architecture and traditional tapas share space with modern Spanish cuisine. You will taste authentic dishes at family owned establishments, from vermouth with Iberian ham to creative interpretations that respect tradition while adding a contemporary touch. Your local guide shares the stories behind each bite, including the cultural influences that shaped regional cooking, why Spanish omelettes inspire strong opinions across the country, and what “hacer el vermut” truly means to locals. Between stops, you will explore the historic Call (Jewish Quarter), walk past the remains of the Roman forum in Plaça Sant Jaume, and experience the vibrant streets that have kept this neighborhood at the heart of Barcelona for centuries.

Itinerary
Hidden on a quiet corner of El Born, this peaceful 12th-century Romanesque square houses the ancient Capella d’en Marcús, a little sanctuary once linked to pilgrims and medieval postal riders.
Warm, family-run restaurant where traditional Spanish cooking meets creative flair. Here you'll sample some of the following tastings: eggplant with honey, pork cheek, pork meatballs with cuttlefish, padrón peppers, cannelloni with pork sausage, or burrata cheese , along with a glass of vermouth.
A charming, unpretentious tapas bar tucked in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, focused on seasonal, locally sourced cuisine. Rooted in tradition yet presented with a modern, creative twist. Sample a selection of dishes such as Jamón Ibérico, bread with tomato, seasonal vegetables, calamari with kimchi sauce, or grilled Iberian pork, served with red wine.
While the focus of the tour is very much on the iconic Gothic Quarter, we often pass through a few corners of the other beautiful old parts of the Ciutat Vella (Old City): El Born and La Ribera.
We will pass through some gorgeous streets and plazas, such as Plaça Sant Jaume, the historic and political heart of Barcelona, where the Roman forum once was. Now home to Catalonia’s main institutions, it’s the perfect spot to discover local politics, flags, and the tradition of human towers, called castells.
Historic Jewish Quarter, a labyrinth of narrow medieval alleys, ancient stone buildings, and hidden courtyards. Once the city’s Jewish heart, today it invites you to explore centuries of history and heritage.
Finish with a tasting of a classic Catalan dessert: a fig ice cream, a crema catalana, or a chestnut pie, paired with fine Cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, in a charming wine cellar tucked into Barcelona’s historic Jewish Quarter.
A hauntingly beautiful square in the Gothic Quarter with Baroque architecture and visible scars from Barcelona’s past, offering a quiet, reflective moment steeped in history.

Wow. What a great tour. The food and tour itself were great but mainly because of our guide Noah. He couldn’t have been nicer, more knowledgable or a joy to be with . His knowledge of history was complete as well as the knowledge surrounding the food we ate. Ask for Noah you won’t be disappointed
Dear guest, thank you for your nice response. We are so happy to hear Noah made this tour special for you. Look for us in your next adventure!
It’s my second Eating Europe experience (did one in London in April 2026), they are admittedly pricey but do an excellent job. Here in Barcelona, Lindsay was a fantastic host, and mixed in bits of the city history with lots of wonderful tasting bites of the Gothic Quarter city present. Eat anything Tony at Sabor de Barrio makes you, you won’t regret it. On to Budapest, I will be doing an Eating Europe tour there next week!
Dear Guest, We are always thrilled to welcome back foodie friends on an Eating Europe tour! Thank you for sharing your insight on our Barcelona experience, we are happy to hear that you felt the adventure was a good value for cost. It will be our pleasure to explore Budapest with you very soon!
Great experience with Lindsay C! Enjoyed learning more about the history of the city and shops, and the food was delicious! The tour covered some great Spanish food highlights and city areas. Would recommend!

Noah gave a great food tour and shared a lot of interesting history about the gothic quarter. We had tapas, wine and desserts at some really good restaurants. I had a lot of fun and would definitely recommend you sign up for this tour!

After really enjoying the Florence tour last summer, we were really looking forward to this tour. After booking and receiving confirmation with eating Europe, we got a text from eating Europe asking if we could do a different time. We couldn’t, as we had booked other activities around this one. They could offer no reasonable alternative citing ‘vendor issues’ for the reason for the cancellation and so issued a refund. The refund amount was straight away, but less than we had paid. Although this was only a small amount, we didn’t feel we should be out of pocket due to a cancellation by the company who are at fault. After raising this, the company responded that this was due to ‘currency exchange rates’ and then stopped replying to texts. After taking a booking I find it hugely disappointing that this would be cancelled and that the company would not make more effort to provide a suitable alternative. The customer service has been appalling. To simply get a text saying ‘can you do a different time instead’ with no explanation completely out of the blue was not acceptable and to now not respond is very poor. We are incredibly disappointed by the cancellation by the company as we were very much looking forward to it and the customer service since has fallen well below expectations. We will think twice before using this company again after a frankly wonderful experience last time.
Dear Guests, Thank you for providing such detailed feedback after your experience with a cancelled tour. We really appreiciate your insight and the opportunity to improve the experience we provide, especially to returning customers. Vendor closures can happen in some intense summer weather and we apologize for the inconvenience this and the exchange of money has caused you. We are currently working to refund the difference and hope to host you again and provide the level of service you expected from past experiences. Safe Travels!
We had a wonderful experience with three generations of family. Kornelia was extremely warm and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and we also has an educational walk through the city while moving from place to place. The whole party had a great time.
Dear guest, thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are very happy that all three generations got to enjoy the tour. Look for us in your next adventure!
