Itinerary
You’ll begin your tour at one of the most iconic tapas bars in the city. Serving locals with delicious fare for decades, this spot is a must for any food lover. You’ll sample a perfectly paired aperitif along with a hand-picked selection of cured meats and cheeses. You’ll also try a true classic Spanish potato dish - a perfect introduction to the city’s specialties.
Before or after your introduction to one of Barcelona’s most historic spots (depending on if your tour takes place in the morning or the afternoon), it’s only fitting to take a stroll through the Gothic Quarter. As you weave through its narrow streets, passing Ancient Roman ruins, you’ll travel through a thousand years of history. Your guide will furnish you with the extra details that make the streets truly come to life.
The second tapas bar on our tour opened in 1945 with a menu consisting of four tapas dishes. Naturally, these have been perfected through the years and carefully chosen to exemplify what makes Spanish food unique: simple recipes prepared with the highest quality ingredients.
At your last stop, you’ll be treated to a sit-down meal at a local spot dating back to the early 20th century. Indulge in a classic selection of Catalan dishes such as croquettes and cannelloni paired with local wine, and top it off with a delicious traditional dessert.

We had a great tour with Hector. He took us around the Gothic Quarter while stopping at local restaurants serving typical Catalan cuisine. He explained each recipe to us and suggested excellent food and wine pairings. I'd recommend doing this tour during the first few days of your visit so you can take advantage of his tips on where to go for local food.
James was the absolute best. I've been on other food and history tours in Barcelona and Madrid and he is hands down at the top. Not only did we learn a ton from him, his restaurant picks were local and delicious AND he made sure our allergies were all managed and accommodated well. He cared about every aspect of the tour and made sure everyone felt included and taken care of. Thanks, James. You're awesome and congrats on getting married soon! Adieu!
Nika was an amazing guide. We learned so much about the history and context of the place and the food. The FOOD and drink was extensive and so delicious, lots of wine and tapas. Nika also introduced us to the siphon for your vermouth which changed our entire trip honestly. We usually do a food tour on the first night in a new city and this one was a very memorable one, highly recommend.
I took this tour on August 18 with Hector and it exceeded my expectations. I booked it on the second day of my trip because I wanted to sample different tapas to decide which ones to try on my own later and which to avoid. And of course, to learn about the history of Barcelona. The tour delivered. Hector is funny, engaging, and overflowing with knowledge. There wasn’t a question I asked that he didn’t have an answer for. I walked away with so much information I wondered how I’d remember it all but surprisingly I do mostly because of Hector’s delivery. We went to three restaurants none of which I would have found on my own. They all seemed to be frequented by locals which I took as a good sign. I liked most of the food/drink I had especially the cava, meatballs, croquettes, and the patatas bravas which I tried the day before at another restaurant and did not like. Baked potatos (instead of fried) and the sauce made a big difference. Who knew? One or two dishes were okay though I wouldn’t rush to order them again. We were small group and everyone was friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and Hector.
James was very knowledgeable and had a good balance of food and history. The food was amazing and James’ facilitation of the food and explanations of everything was great and I would recommend a tour either him.
We arrived to Barcelona in the morning and we're feeling hesitant about a tour and it was an absolute highlight of our time in Barcelona. James, our guide, was knowledgeable, really careful about allergies (gluten, lactose, shellfish), and kept the group of us engaged. So highly recommend this tour! We even went back to the local spots later in our time it was so good.
Luke's extensive knowledge of where to find great food and perfect wine pairings makes every meal an exciting experience. He is also very friendly, and there's never a dull moment with him.
Tour wanders through back lanes of the gothic quarter of Barcelona. Visits three traditional Tapas bars and you get a variety of food and alcoholic drinks. Our guide Kat was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this experience to others.
James was a great guide! Enjoyed trying delicious tapas in some tried and true places in the Gothic quarter. Loved learning about the extensive history of this beautiful town.
Kat was well informed on the history and really took the time to show us an around. I loved the 3 places she took us too and the food and drink offerings were a lot of fun. We wouldn’t have tried them on our own so I’m happy we did this tour. My only knock would be there were no non-alcoholic drinks offered with the alcoholic drinks for the non-drinkers in the group. I think they felt left out. That didn’t stop us from having a great time though.
