Named Ho-run-num-nay (Lake of the Little Fishes) by the Stoney Nakota First Nations people. This glacially fed lake offers some of the most stunning views in the Canadian Rockies and is also home to the Chateau Lake Louise. Chateau Lake Louise is a world-renowned mountain resort and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Banff National Park, Alberta. Known as the “Diamond in the Wilderness,” the chateau was built beginning in the late 1800s, and was developed as part of the CPR’s network of hotels. It shares a lineage with the Banff Springs Hotel, Le Chateau Frontenac in Québec City and the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Considering its remote location and its eventual scale, the Chateau Lake Louise marked an important point in the development of the Canadian West. Reference: The Canadian Encyclopedia © 2023
Moraine Lake has been deemed the most photographed lake in Canada, and for good reason. Moraine Lake is found in the Valley of the Ten Peaks and is famed for amazing surroundings and its sapphire-blue water.
Emerald Lake is a freshwater lake located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. Named by early mountaineering guides because of its extraordinary colour. Glaciers once covered this area and as the ice retreats, their meltwaters pick up a variety of sedimentary materials and carry it downstream to depressions surrounded by glacial debris, creating glacier-water lakes like this. The green or turqoise colour is from the finely ground-up rock flour suspended in the water: the scattering effect which the suspended particles has on the light, combined with the reflection of blue sky, gives the water its remarkable blue-green colour. Takakkaw Falls is a waterfall located in Yoho National Park, near Field, British Columbia in Canada. "Takakkaw" translates to "magnificent” in Cree The falls have a total height of 373 metres, making them the highest waterfall in the Canadian Rockies, and the second highest in Canada!

Thanks for such an amazing day! At the end I asked my 6 year old what her favourite part of the day was and while I fully expected her to say the snacks, her response was “spending the day with you mom”. Thanks Big Nature for creating such an easy, relaxed and fun day to experience these amazing locations, while just sitting back. Max was an awesome guide with lots of knowledge and super friendly. The van was over the top clean and comfortable. We had more than our share of snacks and of course there sites were spectacular. With the VIP parking we had ample time to enjoy them all without feeling rushed. Plan to come back with other family or friends or maybe check out Lake O Hara!
Amazing!!!! Victoria our driver/tour guide was awesome, on time, informative, and engaging. We were agonizing over choosing the sunrise (3:00 AM) at Moraine or a more reasonable 6:30 AM departure from Calgary. We opted for sleep and we were not disappointed! We modified our itinerary by extending our time at Moraine so we would have sufficient time to canoe. Although expensive, the canoeing was worth it. The pictures and videos will be wonderful reminders of the unforgettable day. We did not visit Lake Louise because we had another day dedicated to it later in our trip. After lunch we continued on to Emerald Lake which was also beautiful. Stunning shots with the family having the lake and mountains in the backdrop. Finishing the day at Takakkaw (sp?) falls. Don’t miss it, amazing cascading waterfall. I believe the second highest in Canada. What wonderful memories made with the family. Truly beautiful and worth it!!
Fantastic experience full of adventure. Bryce is kind, funny and an expert of the Banff and Yoho parks. We highly recommend this guided tour for anyone traveling in a group.
We booked a two day tour with Big Nature and it was exceptional! Bryce was an amazing educator and guide. We cannot wait to utilize this great service again.
We were on a guided tour that went from Moraine Lake and went up Sentinel Pass, it was very fun and informative. Every part of the tour was explained fully, and the hike itself was inclusive, nobody was left behind.
This was by far the highlight of our 8 days in Canada. Cassie was an amazing tour guide. My husband and I were here celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and what a great way to spend it. We were blown away by the beauty of this area and having Cassie and her knowledge of the area taking us it made it so enjoyable. We didn’t have to worry about anything. This was a great way to spend a day and not have to worry about driving, parking or crowds. I highly recommend booking this trip as one of the first things you do when you arrive. It gives you an idea of how to navigate the area as well as which areas you might want to back to.
My friends and I booked a customized private tour with Big Nature last week, and it was truly one of the most phenomenal experiences of our lives. From start to finish, Cassie and Bryce were exceptional guides; they are knowledgeable, fun, and incredibly thoughtful. Our adventure began with a 4:30 a.m. pickup from our stay in Canmore to catch the sunrise at Moraine Lake, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. After soaking in the breathtaking views, we rode in their super comfortable van to Lake Louise for the Lake Agnes hike, followed by the climb up to the Big Beehive. Along the way, Cassie and Bryce shared fascinating educational insights about the area, and even pointed out wildlife we would have completely missed (like the adorable pika)! The day wrapped up with a relaxing ride back to our stay, leaving us with unforgettable memories and stunning views. Cassie and Bryce truly made the experience just as incredible as the scenery. We HIGHLY recommend Big Nature for anyone planning on a trip to Banff. You'll be in the best hands!
5/5 great experience! My boyfriend, friends, and I were visiting Banff for the first time. Little did we know that we either have to book a shuttle or private tour in advance to visit the iconic spots. Luckily we found Big Nature and they tailored our whole day to fit our interests. They picked us up promptly for the Lake Moraine sunrise. Blankets, coffee, and pads for sitting were provided. We then saw Lake Louise, Lake Agnes, and hiked the Big Beehive. After the hike, refreshments and snacks were provided and we were dropped off back at our Airbnb. Bryce and Cassie are very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We learned a lot more about Banff, geology, history, wildlife, botany, and all their many hobbies which inspired all of us. It was such a memorable day. Thank you for your hospitality! 100% recommend
It was great. Our driver was knowledgeable and friendly. He provided snacks and beverages to keep us hydrated and happy. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see these prominent water features. 5 Stars!!
Don’t even think about a different tour company!! Cassie was amazing, a local with deep knowledge of the mountains around Banff. Small tours are the best!! Lake Moraine blew us away but our favorite was Takkakaw Falls. Emerald Lake was also incredibly beautiful. It was a great day and we would do it again!!!
