Itinerary
Wat Chaiwatthanaram
Admission included60 min
Wat Chaiwatthanaram is one of the most impressive temples in Ayutthaya, built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong. The temple features a beautiful Khmer-style design, highlighted by a tall central prang symbolizing Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology.
Surrounding the main tower are smaller prangs and galleries once filled with Buddha images, creating a grand and symmetrical layout. The temple was used for royal ceremonies before being damaged during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767.
Today, its well-preserved ruins offer visitors a glimpse into the glory of the ancient kingdom, and it is especially popular for its breathtaking views at sunset.
Wat Mahathat
Admission included60 min
Wat Mahathat is one of the most important temples in the ancient city of Ayutthaya, believed to have been built in the 14th century during the early Ayutthaya Kingdom.
The temple once served as a religious center and housed sacred relics of the Buddha. Today, it is best known for the famous Buddha head entwined in the roots of a banyan tree, a unique and iconic image of Thailand.
Although much of the temple was destroyed during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, its atmospheric ruins and historical significance make it a must-visit site for travelers interested in Thai history and culture.
Wat Phra Sri Sanphet
Admission included60 min
Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the most important royal temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom, built in the 15th century within the grounds of the former royal palace.
Unlike other temples, it had no resident monks and was used exclusively for royal ceremonies. The temple is best known for its three iconic bell-shaped chedis, which housed the ashes of Ayutthaya kings.
Although heavily damaged during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, its elegant layout and historical importance make it one of the most impressive and must-visit landmarks in the ancient city.
Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)
30 min
Discover the timeless charm of Ayutthaya at Wat Lokayasutharam, home to one of Thailand’s most impressive outdoor Reclining Buddha statues. Measuring approximately 37 meters in length, this serene and graceful image rests peacefully under the open sky, offering a truly unique and photogenic experience. The calm expression of the Buddha reflects a sense of peace and enlightenment, making it a meaningful stop for travelers seeking both culture and tranquility.
Located within the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya Historical Park, the temple’s ancient ruins create a beautiful contrast between history and spirituality. Though much of the original structure has faded over time, the atmosphere remains captivating and authentic. A visit to Wat Lokayasutharam is perfect for those looking to explore Thailand’s rich heritage while enjoying a relaxed and unforgettable sightseeing experience.
Ayutthaya
60 min
Ayutthaya, once the capital of Thailand, was founded in 1350 by King King Ramathibodi I. Strategically located between three rivers, the city quickly became one of the most prosperous trading hubs in Asia, welcoming merchants from Europe, China, Japan, and the Middle East. For over 400 years, Ayutthaya flourished as a center of culture, diplomacy, and commerce, with magnificent palaces and temples that reflected the kingdom’s power and sophistication.
The golden era came to an end in 1767, when the city was destroyed during the war with Burma (Myanmar), leaving behind the iconic ruins seen today. Despite its fall, Ayutthaya remains a powerful symbol of Thailand’s rich heritage and resilience. Today, the historic city is preserved as the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting visitors from around the world who come to explore its ancient temples, learn its history, and experience the legacy of one of Southeast Asia’s greatest kingdoms.

A Joyful and Educational Experience
Our guide Tip was a lovely, enthusiastic guide who clearly loves sharing her culture. She provided a very clear picture of what life was like around Wat Phra Sri Sanphet centuries ago. The convenience of a private driver made a world of difference for our comfort. We were picked up right on time, and the vehicle was incredibly comfortable. It was a remarkably peaceful and interesting way to spend the day.

Fantastic Architecture and Seamless Logistics
Kay made our visit to the ruins an absolute delight. Her insights into the design and history of Wat Chaiwatthanaram were fascinating. The entire seven hours were perfectly structured. We didn't have to think about a single detail, from entry fees to transportation. The air-conditioned car was a welcome retreat from the afternoon warmth. It was a beautifully organized day that provided a wonderful glimpse into the past.

Finally Made It to Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya was one of the places I really wanted to see in Thailand. The old brick temples were interesting and there were plenty of spots for photos. Poppy knew the area well and The river cruise later was a good. I like it a lot !

Great Day for Photos in Ayutthaya
I probably took far too many pictures here! The ruins, Buddha statues and old walls all looked great in photos. Kay was pleasant to spend the day with and helped us understand a little more about each place. The boat ride was a nice part of the trip too. The van felt fresh and roomy, and our driver was really smooth on the road, which we appreciated after walking around all day.

Ayutthaya
The old ruins were the main reason we chose this trip, but the whole day turned out to be more enjoyable than we expected. Kay pointed out small details in the buildings that we probably would have walked past on our own.
The Buddha head inside the tree roots was one of the most interesting stops, and Kay helped us take several good photos there. After visiting the temples, we went on the private boat around Ayutthaya Island. Sitting on the boat and seeing the city from the river was a nice change after walking outside. Kay was thoughtful, cheerful and very good at reading what our group needed. We left Ayutthaya feeling very pleased with the day.
