Butterflies can be a little particular about where they choose to land! Sitting still for a few minutes (especially near the host plants or in brighter clothing) often increases your chances — but even watching them flutter around the aviary can be just as magical. We acknowledge the difficulties you experienced navigating the sanctuary with a wheelchair. Due to the natural setting of the aviary, some sections of the concrete paths feature uneven surfaces and slight to moderate slopes. As a result, visitors using manual wheelchairs may require significant physical effort or assistance from a companion to safely complete the full route. We have included this information on our website, but we will look to improve ​clarity to help visitors plan accordingly. We are truly sorry if our communication came across as possibly lacking empathy. That is not the standard we strive for, and we are actively reviewing our staff training to ensure accessibility needs are approached with greater care and understanding. Because we welcome visitors with varying levels of mobility, we offer guests and their companions the opportunity to assess the aviary terrain before purchasing entry tickets.
