Itinerary
Whole event takes around 7 hours. You will be picked up directly from your accommodation place in between 07:00am and 10:00am(pick up time will be confirmed). Meeting will took place either at the front-desk of a hotel or outside near an entry to apartments. Just after collecting all participants you will reach Auschwitz in about 1 hour 15 minutes.
English guided tour in Auschwitz and Birkenau Museum is provided by a licensed museum guide . (Headphones are included) Visiting the camps takes around 3,5 hours and consists of sightseeing of two Nazi camps & Auschwitz and Birkenau.
After a short break of up to 15 minutes following the first camp visit, we will take you to the second part of the tour – Birkenau (Auschwitz II), located just a few minutes away. This was the largest section of the Nazi concentration and extermination complex, created with the intention of carrying out the mass extermination of European Jews. Your guide will continue the moving tour through Brzezinka (Birkenau), built in 1941 under the orders of Heinrich Himmler, commander of the SS. The camp was designed to imprison up to 90,000 people under horrific and inhumane conditions. During the visit, you will learn about the tragic stories of prisoners, brutal selections upon arrival, and inhuman medical experiments conducted by Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour also covers the liberation of Auschwitz by soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front on January 27, 1945 – a moment that marked the end of unimaginable suffering for the remaining prisoners.
After tour you will be taken back to Krakow. Either to your accommodation place or any other destination within the city.

- For all bookings for Auschwitz-Birkenau tour, we need surname and name of every participant (the same as in their ID or PASSPORT). If we will not get it, we will not be able to buy entrance tickets to Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. Without it, you will not be able to enter the museum.

We booked our tour with Krakow Direct. We paid a little extra for pick up from our hotel in a small van, you are then transferred to a large coach. A little bit of waiting around for others to join & then just over 1 hours drive to Auschwitz. Lukasz was our driver, very professional, organised, informative. At Auschwitz we met our guide - Anna. It must be incredibly difficult to conduct these tours each day but Anna was excellent, providing lots of facts & historical content. You may have read the books & watched the TV programmes/movies but nothing prepares you for actually standing there. Auschwitz was smaller & more compact than I was expecting but Birkenau was huge, you just cannot comprehend the scale of the operations there, unbelievably sad. There is so much to see & read, truly traumatic what man can do to their fellow man. Seeing the suitcases, glasses, hair, photos - all so distressing but I think necessary to see to ensure it can never happen again. Everyone on our tour - about 20 - were quiet & respectful & didn’t take photos etc when we were asked not to, important to be dignified & respectful on this sobering occasion. Lots of walking/stairs etc so bear that in mind but all completely doable. A must see if you are in Krakow, we will never forget it. Thought provoking, emotional, horrific, we will never forget it. Very well managed, there has been a museum here since 1947, we will never forget our visit. Thanks to everyone involved for looking after us, highly recommend.
It's surreal to visit a site of so much horror and have people treating it as just another sightseeing event. I felt it was important for me to visit and I'm glad I went, but I felt like we were kind of rushed through and not allowed to feel the enormity of what happened there. I'm sure it must be difficult for the guides to have to walk through there day in and day out and they have to "harden" themselves to be able to do it, but the tour felt very businesslike and not especially meaningful. But I brought my own meaning, and I appreciated having someone else do all the driving and make all the arrangements for me.

The tour was well arranged, on time contact with person who picked us up and clearly indicated where pick-up point was. Dropped off by this person at Auswitz and escorted to the guide. After visiting Auswitz we received a packed lunch arranged by the driver (cost € 15,- per package) and we were taken to Bierkenau where there was next tour. Both tours were impressive. Then back to Krakow where we were dropped off in the center.

Auschwitz was amazing from start to finish. I went with my son 9 and he absolutely loved it, the guide didnt try and give us too much information amd we had time to look, read and learn for ourselves which really helped my son. Birkenhau however was a little bit of a let down, we went 10 years ago and the chambers and lots more things were open to visitors, this time we went inside 1 building and the rest could have been seen from Google maps. Good job it was only 40 minutes, still learnt quite a bit but the wow factor just wasn't there.

Amazing and sobering experience, we got picked up at 6am which was very early but because it was a heatwave, we understood this was a practical measure. Our driver Sawek was polite and courteous and provided a tasty lunch. Would recommend to anyone visiting Krakow, an essential experience. 5 Star!
