Board the classic ship M/S S:t Erik at Lilla Bommen and enjoy a relaxing journey along the coast. Pass the historic Älvsborg Fortress, once a key guardian of the city’s waterways, before taking in views of islands, open water, and coastal scenery. Live commentary in English and Swedish, played through the onboard speaker system, introduces the sights along the route. Make use of the indoor areas or enjoy the sea air from the outdoor sun deck. The vessel has a cafeteria, restaurant, and bar, with snacks and drinks available for purchase. This Stromma sightseeing cruise is an easy way to experience Gothenburg’s maritime atmosphere and the archipelago beyond the city.

More archipelago please

This is called an archipelago tour but we saw very little of the archipelago. The tour was too close to the city and we had hoped to get outside the city. It was nice but not as expected. We did an archipelago tour in Gothenburg and saw many more islands (not as pretty as in the Stockhom area but at least there it was as advertised)

Operator response

Hello Susan, thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry the tour didn't quite match what you expected from an archipelago cruise. We're glad you still enjoyed parts of the trip and appreciate your feedback. Best regards, Stromma

Great tour that could be improved

The boat is located at the pier a few minutes away from the Lilla Bommen bus stop. Boarding takes place in 2 groups, specifically for guests who booked with food and then those without food. The guide speaks in Swedish and English. I would suggest offering an audio guide, as that would provide an even better experience. It is important to have sun protection/cream with you. On board, there is also the possibility to use the catering services.

Operator response

Hello Benno, thank you for sharing your experience! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the archipelago tour. ☀️ We appreciate your suggestion regarding an audio guide and will pass your feedback along. We hope to welcome you on board again! Best regards, Stromma

Overbooked

The tour was completely overbooked. As a result, there were almost no seats on the ship.

Operator response

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear that the boat felt overcrowded and that it was difficult to find a seat. We understand how this affected your experience and will pass your feedback along to the responsible team. Best regards, Stromma

Not exactly what we expected but it's a nice trip.

Went for a dinner cruise with the shrimp feast option. It was raining for much of the trip so not much outside deck time, but the boat is nice the views are wonderful. I will say I expected a little more in the shrimp feast than shrimp and bread. It is called shrimp feast I suppose so that's on me. The trip would maybe be a little awkward if you were not eating, it would still be a nice boat ride and there's a bar, but it seems to center around the meal. The guide seemed fine but easily becomes background noise. All in all though the scenery makes the trip. If you're going in summer of 2026, there is construction on the roads everywhere so the walk from the train station will take about twice as long as you'd expect.

Enjoyable Tour

We sat outside on the stern deck so we didn’t hear any of the guide’sbb narration, but that allowed us to enjoy the view. Bring a light jacket.

Operator response

Disorganized and inattentive

We booked and paid for our tour of the Gothenburg archipelago and showed up about half an hour before departure because we were coming from another tour. Departure scheduled for 3:00 PM, we asked a staff member what time boarding would start and he answered at 2:45 PM. We hadn't had lunch yet, so since time was tight, we asked him if it was possible to bring takeout food onto the boat; he answered yes, but that sandwiches and other things were available on board for lunch anyway, so we relaxed and waited in line to board. Once on board, the beginning of the end: we asked the girl at the bar for the food menu, she opened her eyes wide and then candidly told us that unless we had booked lunch, verbatim, “there is no food”. In the meantime, everyone had taken their seats; we moved to the upper deck looking for a place to sit and couldn't find one. NONE of the (extremely rude) people who had already sat down comfortably and very spaced out had the brilliant idea of squeezing together to make room for us, so we were forced to sit on the stairs (an absolutely NOT safe place, especially in case of an emergency), but the even more absurd thing is that none of the staff who literally stepped over us to go up or down the stairs deigned to tell us that it was not safe for us to be sitting there and to point out to the other tourists that they should squeeze together. It is assumed that if you take 40 reservations you can guarantee that you have just as many seats!! The only positive note was the guy who acted as a guide; for everything else, I strongly advise against it.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We're very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how disappointing it must have been. We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the food available on board and for the seating situation during the cruise. That is not the experience we want our guests to have. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and will make sure your feedback is shared with the relevant team so we can improve both our communication and onboard experience. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the guide and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Best regards, Stromma

No more than a superficial impression of the archipelago

There is not much to criticize on this boat tour. But since you leave in the north of the city, it takes twice more than half an hour to get out of the port area. The time you spend in the archipelago is therefore limited. Moreover, from the boat you hardly get a sense of the beauty of the area. Much cheaper and much better is perhaps to take the public ferry from Saltholmen (accessible by tram) to the islands of the archipelago. Only those who set foot there can absorb the beauty of the area.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback, Gerrit. We appreciate your honesty about the boat tour and we will certainly take your comments into account ☀️ Best regards, Stromma.
