We booked this tour thinking we'd see old stones. Stefa had other plans. She started us in the Forum and the ancient ruins, turning broken columns back into a living city street by street. Then she brought us to the arena floor of the Colosseum and rebuilt the whole machine around us: the roar, the smell, the trapdoors, the bets being laid in the stands. She moved us through the August crowds like a chess master, always three moves ahead, and we never once felt stuck. My wife's first language is Spanish, and Stefa made sure she never missed a story. That mattered to me more than anything. Three hours in the heat and we never looked at our watches. If Stefa is your guide, you're not taking a tour. You're taking a time machine.
