We loved our experience with Ms. Melina. This was such a wonderful and unique activity with my kids. Ms. Melina gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. Her kitchen was so cozy and clean. She kept my tweens engaged the entire time. The donuts were so delicious, and we made enough for the rest of our stay in Athens. We highly recommend this class or any class from Miss Melina. She is a treasure.
dear visitor thank you so much for your review , it has been a great pleasure and fun to be cooking our traditional loukoumades for you and your lovely daughters
This was amazing! What a special experience for my family! Melina was wonderful in every way. The loukoumathes were the best ever! Good for any age:). A truly unique experience. Thank you so much.
thank you so much, too , Andrea for the visit and this amazing review! much obliged , Melina
Melina is a treasure— warm, welcoming, knowledgeable. We made 4 different kinds of loukoumades and got to take the leftovers with us along with the flavorful Greek salad and the fruits served with one of the sweet loukoumades. Melina regaled us with the histories of different foods, her life, and her multi-generational cooking traditions. Our most memorable and authentic experience in Athens.
thank you so much for the time you spent writing this wonderful review It was a great pleasure to meet your lovely family and enjoyed so much cooking with you
This was a wonderful experience! Highly recommend. My husband and I wanted to do a cooking class in Greece. We picked Melina's cooking class, because it was how to make Loukoumades- Greek Doughnuts. We were so surprised that loukoumades were more than just desserts. You can make a whole meal with them, which we did at our class. We were so full and took many leftovers back to the hotel. Melina was so welcoming and kind. She is full of Greek information. You must try the fresh lemonaid! Go enjoy a fun time with plenty of food! She even emails you the recipes, so you can cook for your friends at home.
dear Julie thank you so much for your time to write this wonderful review .It was a great pleasure meeting you and teaching you the magic of Greek loukoumades all the best Melina
Melina is a gracious host and alot of fun to cook with. Come hungry because you make alot of donuts, both sweet and savory, which were packed up to take with. Melinas knowledge of Greek foods and their origins was interesting and very fun to listen to. My 18 yoa daughter and I highly recommend this class or any of Melinas other cooking classes. Class ended at 330 pm and we had plenty of time ( even with traffic) to get to the cruise terminal for a 7 pm ship departure. Thanks Melina for a perfect afternoon activity.
thank you Margaret for your time to write this lovely review , much obliged.. It has been a great pleasure meeting you and you sweet daughter and I hope one day we will meet again cheers enjoy the rest of your summer holidays cheers
We did this cooking class in Athens (Chalandri) the afternoon before we flew home after 2 weeks of Greek island hopping, and it was a wonderful way to cap off our vacation. Melina was a delightful hostess and instructor, and it was just our family of four so the activity was very casual and comfortable. We enjoyed the conversation and learning the recipes to make both savory and sweet loukoumades, and the results or our efforts were delicious. There were plenty of leftovers that Melina boxed up for us to take with us. It was an excellent experience.
dear guests thank you so much for sharing this review it was wonderful to have you around you are a lovely family and I hoe one day we meet again for more Greek cooking , cheers
We had the most magical time with Melina learning about the origins of Greek donuts and then preparing 5 different types, for the original donut coins that were made for the athletes competing in the first Olympics back in 345 BC, as well as making traditional, sweet and two savory donuts. Melina is absolutely delightful. She is warm and caring, funny and engaging, and she has so much knowledge about Greek cuisine. We had so much fun making the donuts and of course eating them!! It was such a wonderful time and we one hundred percent recommend this experience and Melina. She is a gem! If you only have time for one sentence (TLDR) here it is: you will leave Melina’s kitchen with a full and happy stomach, unforgettable memories of a wonderful time, and a new friend…stop researching and book your experience before someone else beats you to it. We found Melina by chance driven by a desire for a cooking experience that was outside the standard philo pie, moussaka, and gyro classes. When my daughter and I saw that she would teach us to make loukoumades (traditional Greek donuts) we were sold and didn’t bother to read reviews or research further. We had no idea how amazing Melina was until the day of our class. Leading up to the day she was helpful with directions, transportation logistics (bus stop just a minute or two from her studio), and questions to confirm possible dietary restrictions or allergies. Once we arrived, she greeted us warmly and with traditional beverages and talked us through the schedule for the afternoon and the historic significance of loukoumades. Then the cooking began and we got hands on experience with sweet, savory and fruity varieties of loukoumades. Mixed in were stories, laughter and a bit of grandmotherly wisdom passed down through her family. She buys local and organic when possible and gives a quick acknowledgement to the local producers in case you want to seek them out. And of course we had plenty of eating. We had so much food that she packed us a care package of leftovers to eat later. It’s not my story to tell, but I suggest you ask her how she got into cooking, about her cookbook, and the experiences she has had along the way. She’s a bit of a celebrity although she’s so humble you would never know it. There was no rush to leave, I think we could have stayed for the rest of the afternoon, but we had other adventures to begin so we traded contact info for recipes, took some photos with our new friend and discussed future plans to come back someday and do one of her market to table classes where she takes you shopping in the local markets and then cooks with the fresh ingredients. If you have a specific dish request, reach out to her and she will work with you to plan your personalized experience. If you are looking for a cooking class in Athens, look no further Melina is as good as it gets.
dear guest thank you so much for sharing your reviews , much appreciated
We had an amazing time learning multiple ways to Cooke loukoumades with Melina. She was very knowledgeable about the foods history as well as nutrition information. She really encouraged my daughters to participate in the experience. One of the highlights of our trip!
