Our journey is about to conclude as we return to the picturesque Amstel River, passing beneath Amsterdam's renowned Skinny Bridge – a rare gem among the city's dwindling collection of wooden bridges.
We're back on the Prinsen canal where we get a chance to see a lot of different house boats and canal houses.

Captain Attila had just rolled up all the tarps so that we could enjoy the good weather just as we arrived. We got to see seven bridges which was great for photographs as well as the Jordaan neighborhood which was picturesque and so quiet. Any question we threw Attila was answered and he also pointed out many things we might have missed. He had a great sense of humor and we had a wonderful time.
Easy to find. Our guide/captain was exceptional; extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Small boat size allowed access to the smaller/quieter canals. Highly recommended!

The tour started very well, Guus was friendly and funny. We all had a laugh when the boat had to turn back to pick up a passenger - Guus did leave early though. The first part of the boat ride was informative and Guus interacted with everyone on board. He allowed people to enjoy the views with the right amount of commentary. We felt very safe with Guus expertly navigating the busy river. And the sunset was beautiful. I'm not sure what changed but the latter half of the trip, Guus seemed to only interact with the guests at the back end of boat and there were long periods of silence as we glided around. We had no idea where we were or what was of interest and Guus was having conversations, only with the people nearest to him. We passed Anne Frank's house, we were only told at the last minute, as if it was an after thought. It may not be important to Guus but we are visiting Amsterdam and of course, we are interested in where things are. I would say that for at least the last half hour of the trip, there's was little if no commentary or interactions with Guus. It was disappointing as everything looked so pretty at night; it seemed like a missed opportunity as there ws no mention of the red light district, anything at all about Anne Frank, the history of the coffee houses etc. We did get a couple of recommendations on bars that opened till late. Overall, it was just a big disappointment, we were looking forward to seeing and hearing more about Amsterdam at night.
Dear Lisa, Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We’re sorry that the second half of the cruise didn’t live up to the strong start you experienced. Our apologies as well that our Captain Guus was a little too eager to get going that evening and left the meeting point too early, meaning we had to call him back to collect the final guest. We realise that this may already have set the tour off in the wrong direction, even though we’re glad everyone was able to have a laugh about it at the time. It’s lovely to hear that you enjoyed the first part of the cruise, the sunset, and Guus’ friendly and relaxed style. However we sorry to hear that the commentary and interaction dropped off later in the tour. Our Evening Cruise is designed to be a relaxed experience, with time to simply enjoy the canals, but there should still be enough information along the way for guests to understand what they are seeing. We’ll certainly discuss your feedback with Guus, particularly regarding making sure the commentary reaches and includes everyone on board. Just to clarify one point: our Evening Cruise follows the UNESCO Canal Belt and Jordaan route and does not pass through the Red Light District. The Red Light District is one of the sights included on our daytime Old City Center Cruise, which follows a different route through Amsterdam. We’re sorry that overall the experience left you disappointed, especially after such a promising start to the cruise. We would really appreciate the opportunity to make this right, so please feel free to reach out to us directly. Perhaps we can offer you some free tickets for our Old City Center Cruise, so you can still get to see and hear about the Red Light District.

We booked an evening boat tour for our anniversary. What a wonderful experience- only 12 of us on the boat. Atilla was the most hospitable, engaging guide; joyful and informative with a gentility and charisma that didn’t overwhelm or dominate the experience. The perfect guide. He had stories that came from real research he had undertaken, bringing to life both the historical aspect of Amsterdam and the people within it. This is the only way to really see Amsterdam. Simply spectacular experience with the Amsterdam Boat Adventures! The trip through the canals was very quiet and beautiful, the environment was excellent and the boat was extremely comfortable. However, what really made this experience unforgettable was our guide, John. João was absolutely fantastic: friendly, fun and with an incredible ability to talk and engage everyone from the start of the trip. His knowledge is brutal, both about Amsterdam and its canals as well as about history and general culture. Frankly, I've never met anyone with so much knowledge and with such a natural and interesting way to convey it. It was he who created the special atmosphere during the whole tour and made the trip much more than just a boat ride. A spectacular experience, which we highly recommend and which we will be happy to repeat!

The guide brought vast knowledge and enthusiasm to the tour, making it both informative and genuinely enjoyable. Our skipper, Jamie, stood out with his professionalism, friendliness, and expertise, which added so much to the experience. The evening tour was a dream—peaceful and so romantic with stunning views of the sun setting and illuminated bridges. The small, cozy boat (only 12 people) felt intimate and allowed us to navigate charming canals that larger boats couldn’t reach. A truly magical outing!

This was our second boat tour and our favorite during our visit. The evening was beautiful, captain Griffin made it educational but also calming. We brought our own wine and snacks to complete the experience.
