The perfect dream trip awaits at Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris.

My husband and I just finished an 8-day, 7-night mid-range private safari. The experience exceeded our expectations. Ignus Titus, who arranged our itinerary, was incredibly dedicated and contactable day and night, resolving any issues immediately – truly thoughtful! 💖 Our guide and driver, Edgar Justinian, was extremely knowledgeable, possessing a wealth of information about animals, all national parks, and Tanzania's history and culture – better than Wikipedia! 👍 He took meticulous care of us, making us feel completely at ease. The hotels were also very comfortable, with a wide variety of delicious food. I highly recommend Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris. A five-star review! 👍💖

Operator response

Exceptional Safari Experience with Meru Slopes

Our group of 11, ranging in age from 13 to 83, recently had an incredible safari experience in Tanzania with Meru Slopes, and we could not be more pleased with our choice. From the moment we arrived in Kilimanjaro until the time we left Tanzania, everything was exceptionally well organized and handled with genuine care. A huge thank you goes to Kelvin, the Meru Slopes manager who put our trip together and made sure everything ran smoothly. With a group this size and with changing dates and preferences along the way, there were plenty of opportunities for things to get complicated — but Kelvin was always responsive, flexible, and quick to accommodate our requests. His communication and attention to detail gave us tremendous confidence throughout the trip. Our two driver-guides, Douglas and Stanley, were absolutely outstanding. Their knowledge of Tanzania, the parks, wildlife, and animal behavior was remarkable. They seemed to know exactly where to go and when to go there, and they consistently got us into fantastic positions for wildlife viewing — often incredibly close to the animals. They were patient, professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Having two excellent guides made such a difference to our experience. We spent five nights in safari lodges and three nights in tented camps, and we were very impressed with all of them. Everything was comfortable and had the modern conveniences we wanted while still giving us that wonderful feeling of being immersed in the African wilderness. The two customized Toyota Land Cruisers were another highlight. They were comfortable and well equipped with Wi-Fi, USB chargers, and coolers stocked with water, Coke, and Coke Zero — little touches that made long safari days much more enjoyable. And then there was the food! We were genuinely impressed by the safari lunches. These were not the typical sandwiches or basic boxed lunches you might expect. We enjoyed hot picnic lunches served with tablecloths, real plates and silverware, and even wine, beer, and soft drinks. Having a proper, delicious hot meal in the middle of the African bush was an experience in itself! We specifically chose a midrange safari, expecting good value and comfortable accommodations. What we got felt like something much closer to a five-star experience. The level of organization, service, guiding, accommodations, food, and attention to detail was exceptional — especially considering the very reasonable price. What impressed us most was how seamlessly Meru Slopes handled a group with such a wide range of ages and interests. From our youngest traveler at 13 to our oldest at 83, everyone felt comfortable, well looked after, and able to enjoy the adventure. Tanzania itself is an extraordinary destination, but having the right safari company makes all the difference. Meru Slopes exceeded our expectations in every way. Kelvin, Douglas, Stanley, and the entire team helped create a truly memorable trip for our family and friends. Excellent organization, outstanding guides, wonderful accommodations, fantastic food, comfortable vehicles, exceptional service, and incredible value. We would choose Meru Slopes again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them to anyone planning a Tanzanian safari. Five stars without hesitation!

Operator response

Thank you for such an incredible review! It means so much to know that Kelvin, Douglas, Stanley, and the entire team helped make your family’s safari special for travelers of every age. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the lodges, camps, vehicles, and especially our bush lunches! Thank you for trusting Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris—we’d be delighted to welcome your family and friends back to Tanzania someday. Warm regards, Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris

Best experience of our lives - Big 5, Great Migration and much more

We have dreamed about visiting Tanzania for a long time, and we choose Meru Slopes for our Private 8-day tour because of the good reviews that we had read online. We are very happy with our choice, the trip couldn't be better!! We started our safari in Lake Manyara NP, where we were able to spot a lot of wildlife (baboons, giraffes, elephants, lions and much more). Then we continued with Serengeti NP, were we spotted hundreds of animals, inluding a close look to the Big Cats (lions, leopards, cheetas). At Serengeti we were also able to see the Great Migration, a marvel of nature, including witnessing the famous crossing of river Mara. Then we proceeded to Ngorongoro Crater, where we saw all the Big 5 in a span of minutes (including 5 Black Rhinos). The last park that we visited is Tarangire NP, the paradise of elephants and baobab trees. At the end of the trip we came home with hundreds of photos and videos (including stunning scenes like lioness hunting and river crossing), a lot of touching memories and the desire to come back again. The trip was very well organized, rooms were comfortable and food was delicious. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. A special thanks goes to our driver and safari guide Omari, extremely expert in animals and also a very good company for the trip. The way he was able to spot all animals was magical. Also thanks to Almachius for assisting us with all our questions before the trip, with kindness and professionality. We highly reccomend this trip and tour operator for unforgettable memories, and will sure come back as soon as we can! Julia and Leonardo

Operator response

Dear Julia and Leonardo, We truly appreciate you taking the time to share such a detailed and heartfelt account of your journey. Five rhinos in one crater visit is no small stroke of luck, and hearing that Omari made every sighting feel like magic says everything about why he's so loved by our guests. Safe to say, Tanzania has earned a place in your hearts, and we in turn have earned two future guests. Until next time! Warm regards, Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris

Such a great experience for our first honeymoon!

My husband and I just got back from our 8 day safari for our honeymoon. We did a fly-in option from the Arusha airport to the Serengeti and it was so worth it! Our guide Juma was so great! He gave us so much information about the different animals and areas that we were in. He also made sure to get us into good spots when there was a lot of activity from other safari jeeps. He really pushed to get us into good spots to get great pictures! He was so great and would definitely recommend him as a guide. We stayed in lodges for most of the trip and we decided while on safari instead of doing 2 nights in a tented camp we wanted to upgrade one of the nights to a lodge. Our organizer Gift was so great with that request and got us into a lodge, which ended up being our favorite lodge on the whole trip! Everyone we worked with through Meru Slopes was so professional and allowed us to have a great experience for our honeymoon and first time in Tanzania!

10/10 Safari Experience

My sister and I recently completed an unforgettable 8-day private wildebeest migration safari in Tanzania with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris, covering Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, and a city tour of Arusha. After returning home and reflecting on our experience, I can honestly say that choosing Meru Slopes was one of the best decisions we made for our trip. From the planning stage to the final day of our journey, everything was well organized, professional, and exceeded our expectations. When we first started looking for safari companies, we contacted several tour operators. What immediately stood out about Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris was their excellent communication. Our travel consultant, Alamancius, was incredibly patient, responsive, and knowledgeable throughout the planning process. We had several specific requests regarding our itinerary, accommodations, and the pace of our trip. Instead of simply offering a standard package, Alamancius carefully listened to our preferences and customized the itinerary to suit our needs. He answered every question promptly and made us feel confident before we even arrived in Tanzania. His professionalism and willingness to accommodate our requests made the booking process smooth and stress-free. Our safari itself was beyond anything we had imagined, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide and driver, Max. We quickly realized that having an experienced guide makes all the difference on an African safari, and Max was exceptional in every way. He was punctual, friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about Tanzania's wildlife, ecosystems, and culture. One of the things that impressed us most was Max's remarkable ability to find animals. Throughout the eight days, he made sure we saw an incredible variety of animals. We witnessed countless elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, crocodiles, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, antelopes, gazelles, and countless species of birds. Every day felt like a new adventure with exciting wildlife encounters around every corner. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti. Seeing thousands upon thousands of wildebeests stretching across the plains was a breathtaking experience that words simply cannot describe. Watching these incredible animals move together through the vast landscape reminded us how magnificent nature truly is. Max positioned our vehicle perfectly so we could enjoy excellent views while remaining respectful of the animals and other visitors. His experience clearly showed, as he always seemed to know where the wildlife activity would be. Beyond simply finding animals, Max shared fascinating information about their behaviors, habitats, and interactions. Whenever I asked questions, he answered them patiently and thoroughly. Whether I was asking about lion prides, elephant family structures, bird identification, or the migration itself, he always had interesting explanations to share. His passion for wildlife was contagious and made each game drive educational as well as exciting. Another aspect we greatly appreciated was how safe and comfortable we felt throughout the journey. The roads inside the national parks can be rough, especially in the Serengeti, but Max drove carefully and confidently the entire time. Even during long drives between parks, he maintained a positive attitude and made the journey enjoyable with conversations about Tanzania, local traditions, conservation efforts, and daily life. By the end of the safari, he felt less like a guide and more like a friend. Each destination offered something unique. Tarangire National Park amazed us with its enormous elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Ngorongoro Crater was absolutely stunning, with its breathtaking scenery and incredible concentration of wildlife all within the crater floor. The Serengeti exceeded every expectation we had, with endless golden plains filled with wildlife in every direction. Every day brought something new, and every park had its own special beauty. After finishing our safari, we also enjoyed exploring Arusha. We were fortunate to have Victor accompany us during our city tour. Victor was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. One of our favorite memories from Arusha was trying authentic local Tanzanian food. Victor took us to places where local people actually eat, allowing us to experience flavors we probably would never have found on our own. The food was absolutely delicious, and it gave us a much deeper appreciation for Tanzanian culture and hospitality. We really appreciated that he wanted us to experience more than just sightseeing. Throughout the entire trip, everyone we met from Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris treated us with kindness, respect, and genuine hospitality. We never felt like just another booking. Every member of the team seemed to truly care that we had an unforgettable experience. For anyone considering a safari in Tanzania, I wholeheartedly recommend Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris. Whether you are visiting for your first safari or your tenth, they provide outstanding service, knowledgeable guides, and personalized attention that truly sets them apart. If possible, request Max as your safari guide—you will be in excellent hands. And if you have the opportunity to explore Arusha, I highly recommend spending time with Victor, who will help you experience the city beyond the typical tourist attractions. Our eight days in Tanzania created memories that will last a lifetime. We returned home with thousands of photographs, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and a deep appreciation for Tanzania's incredible landscapes and warm-hearted people. Asante Sana, Meru Slopes team. We cannot wait to return one day, and when we do, we will absolutely choose Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris again.

Couldn’t have been better

We did an 8-day safari with Meru, and the experience was incredible from the very beginning. When we first started planning the trip, the communication with Jerome was excellent. He sent us several different quotes, adapted everything to our needs, always replied very quickly, and gave us all the information we asked for. He made the whole planning process incredibly easy. Once we arrived in Tanzania, everything was perfectly organized. All the accommodation and transfers were excellent, and the whole trip ran smoothly from start to finish. We especially want to mention our guide, Robert, who truly made this trip unforgettable. He has a huge amount of experience and an incredible knowledge of wildlife and animal behavior. Thanks to him, we were able to see the Great Migration, the Big Five, the Ugly Five, and so many animals incredibly close. Robert always seemed to know exactly where to take us, when to wait, and what was going to happen next! His knowledge of animals meant that we were always in the right place at the right time, and we were able to experience and see absolutely everything we had hoped for. We would 100% recommend Meru. It has been an unforgettable trip, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better safari experience.

Amazing 11 day Great Migration - Wildlife Safari!

We did the 8 day mid range serengeti great migration as a private safari for our group of 5. We added : an extra day of rest on arrival, 1 extra day in western serengeti and 1 extra day hiking on Mt Kilimanjaro for a total of 11 days. Meru Slopes added the extra days at reasonable charge and no extra inconvenience to us. The trip was amazing. The great migration was a main priority, and our guide Santaely put us in the middle of the migration. Amazing. We saw the big 5. The wildlife viewing exceeded our expectations. Everything and more on our list. Accommodations and service and food were excellent, with a hot shower and a cold beer every evening. The cleanliness of the restrooms/ toilets throughout the trip surpassed all the ladies' hopes for their trip to the Serengeti wilderness. Our guide Suma, for the Kilimanjaro day hike was great, with his open conversation on life and Tanzania. He'd been to the summit +300 times. Transport to/from airport was great. No one in our group got sick. Mosquito nets were provided for our memory foam matress beds, but I only saw 2 mosquitos the whole trip. The payment method of 30% bank draft deposit to hold reservation, the balance paid by credit card just before safari departure went without a flaw just as described by our Meru Slopes agent, Shadrack. The whole trip was excellent. We went at the end of low season and we're glad for the much reduced safari jeep numbers.

Don’t miss out! Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris are simply the BEST!

I cannot say enough good things about Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris! This trip (which we customized to include 1 extra day upfront for rest, 1 extra day in Western Serengeti for the Great Migration and 1 extra for the Kilimanjaro day hike) exceeded our expectations - from excellent communication and organization by email from Shadrack before we arrived in Kilimanjaro to airport pick up (Joseph) to luxurious lodgings at all sites to exquisite food in all locations to our expert guide (Santaely) who took such great care of us at every turn, making sure that our daily needs and desires were met. He went above and beyond for our group (we were 5, including my 16-yr old son). We saw so many animals- yes, the Big 5, and Santaely shared his extensive knowledge of the animals, the ecology and Tanzanian culture. We traveled at the end of low season, grateful to miss so many safari jeeps in one area. Everyone we met was so friendly, making us feel safe and welcomed. The people (and animals) of Tanzania are beautiful. We ended with a fairly easy day hike with our driver, Joseph, and Suma (who had climbed Kilimanjaro over a hundred times - a wealth of knowledge). We left Tanzania with our hearts full, telling all our friends and family to take the time to do this unforgettable trip.

An awesome adventure with Meru Slopes!

Our dream vacation really began when Victor, our (city) guide to/from the airport, picked us up. He’s an incredibly enthusiastic young man, who was eager to teach us a little Swahili, talk to us about his country, and who did an excellent job navigating us through/around some intense traffic (closed roads, blocked roads, ...) due to the Prime Minister being in town. And when the President was in town at the end of our trip, he again did a masterful job of avoiding delays. What an exceptionally happy and engaging person! Our guide throughout our safari, Douglas, did an excellent job. It was clear his goal was to make all our dreams for this vacation a reality! He managed to exceed our dreams. His depth of experience was clear from day one. Each time we encountered an animal, he somehow managed to get us positioned front and center. He educated us not just on the animals but on his country and the people. We saw every animal, except the elusive leopard. We even saw both black and white rhinos! We went in late February so we did experience a day of the rainy season, with washed out bridges and flooded roads. Yet, this didn’t deter Douglas at all. We still went out and saw all sorts of animals and beautiful lands. And of course, with the time of year, we were gifted with sightings of all the newborn animals as well. I highly recommend Meru Slopes! When local business people asked which company we were with they all had great things to say about Meru Slopes. So, if you want to be treated wonderfully, and have an experience of your life, check out Meru Slopes. We did the 8 day- Wildebeest Migration option and it was pretty darned perfect!

Awesome Trip - Fantastic People - Great Tour Company!

Meru Slopes Tours The staff at Meru Slopes was welcoming and gave us a sense of family. Both of our guides were knowledgeable and excellent drivers. Victor, our city guide had to navigate through extreme traffic and unscheduled road closers to help us get to our destinations. He could backout and turn around in complete gridlock. Douglas our Safari Guide was very knowledgeable, an excellent driver and super friendly. He could see things that that would undoubtable be missed, explain all of the details and habits of the animals and found everything and more that we were hoping to see. The Meru safari camp staff made us feel like family as well. We miss them already.
