I am usually not someone who takes a guide when I travel, but to discover Vidigal, I am really glad I made an exception. Jean-Christophe has lived in Vidigal since COVID and it makes all the difference: you discover the favela through someone who actually lives there, rather than with a simple tourist tour. He allowed us to better understand the daily life, history, and reality of the neighborhood, while helping us discover places and viewpoints that we probably would never have found on our own. The tour was very pleasant, natural, and without the feeling of a "staged" tourist tour. Jean-Christophe is friendly, passionate, and very approachable. We felt confident throughout the tour and really had the impression of discovering Vidigal from the inside. If you are hesitating to hire a guide to visit Vidigal, I highly recommend Jean-Christophe to you. For us, it was clearly one of the best experiences of our trip to Rio!

Description
nstalled in Vidigal since 2020, I invite you to discover this favela from the inside, far from clichés and misconceptions. Together, we will travel its alleys, discuss its history, organization and evolution, in order to better understand the place that favelas occupy in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The tour begins with a motorcycle taxi ride up to the heights of Vidigal, before a descent on foot through the alleys of the neighborhood. Along the way, you will discover the daily lives of its inhabitants, the energy of this community and great views of the ocean and surrounding neighborhoods. In the heart of the favela
We contacted Jean-Christophe upon our arrival in Rio for a tour of the Vidigal favela and to hike the Morro Dois Irmãos trail, which leads to a magnificent view of Rio. Jean-Christophe responded to us very quickly to guide us for a half-day of discovery. Beyond this discovery of these places and the information that Jean-Christophe shared with us throughout the tour, we had a real moment of connection with a wonderful person who conveyed his attachment to his favela to us. The best choice for visiting and getting to know Rio.
just now New First of all, meeting Jean Christophe was a real pleasure, a very beautiful person. With Jean Christophe, we were first able to visit the Vidigal favela in an unusual way, to immerse ourselves and better understand how the favelas, the inhabitants, and the city of Rio work; we ended the visit with a very good meal shared in his canteen. 24 hours later, we were able to take a more extensive tour of Rio in his superb 1962 VW bus, passing through the mangroves populated by caimans and capybaras, then we continued through the beautiful Tijuca Forest; he knew how to constantly adapt the day according to the weather conditions, which were not the most favorable that day. With Jean Christophe, we were able to discover the center, iconic sites, the Cachaça temple where we ate and bought rare beverages, secret spots, and get to know the Carioca culture a little better; a superb day, superb memories.

We spent two days with Jean-Christophe: a full day of City Tour in Rio, then a second day with the hike of the Two Brothers and the discovery of the Vidigal favela. We simply loved it! We are traveling with our three children and he knew perfectly how to adapt the days to our family, our pace, and our desires, all while helping us experience incredible moments.
