You can experience the traditional Japanese culture of Sogetsu ikebana during your trip! You can taste Japanese tea and traditional Japanese sweets. The experience location is 10-minute walk from Omori Station on JR line and Heiwajima Station on the Keihin Kyuko Line, which is also 10 minutes from Haneda Airport. My friend who worked as a florist for years signed us up for this. I tend to kill flowers and houseplants, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go, but it was very engaging! I learned a lot, and my flower arrangement didn't turn out too terribly either. This was a really interesting activity which I never would have signed up for on my own, and I'm so glad my friend forced me into it.

Mindi was a wonderful teacher, knowledgeable and patient. After explaining about the history and principles of Ikebana,she guided me in creating a traditional flower arrangement and then I experimented with additional arrangement, this time free style. We finished the workshop with tea drinking alongside Japanese sweets. It was a special afternoon.

I always enjoy flower arranging and I enjoyed learning about flower arranging Ikebana. I was alone at first and joined later by a local student. I did 2 arrangements 1 big and a smaller one. I had a very good time, I wish I could have taken the smaller one with me.

I completed an Ikebana session with my partner in January, taught by instructor Miri Ishihara, and it was an exceptional experience. Her instruction was clear and detailed, supported by deep knowledge of the art. The classes where amazing. It was a wholesome, mindful experience, and it helped me reconnect with my creativity and nature. The teacher, Miri Ishihara, was really sweet: patient, with great insights, and with a general peaceful vibe. I knew I have to try ikebana, when in Japan (Lost in translation fan :) ). And I chose very well. Mayumi sensei was patient and helpful. I enjoyed the traditional activity, but explained simply and focused on trying it with our own hands. We even got tea and little snack at the end. Overall it was very pleasant and I would recommend it to anyone interested in japanese culture.

My first ikebana course with Ishihara Miri was a wonderful experience. She took plenty of time to clearly explain the basic principles, and we even created two ikebana arrangements. I really appreciated her teaching style — patient, clear, and very attentive. The space itself was also inspiring and truly enhanced the experience. I would love to take another course with her.
