ツアーはロイヤル マイルから始まります。ツアー ガイドが街と旧市街の歴史についてご案内します。
ロイヤル マイルを歩きながら、市内のいくつかの「クローズ」を見て、これらの狭い路地が何に使われていたかを理解します。また、かつては公示や処罰に使われていた場所であるマーケット クロスにも立ち寄ります。頂上にあるユニコーンを見つけられますか?
マーケット クロスの前で、セント ジャイルズ大聖堂を見学します。スコットランドで最も重要な教会の建築についてお話し、長老派教会の歴史を学びます。 また、ウェスト パーラメント スクエアまで歩いて、連合法についてお話します。
セント ジャイルズを後にして、ロイヤル マイルを進みます。途中で、ハート オブ ミッドロジアンを指差して、このモザイクのハートが何であるかを説明します。数分後、ロイヤル マイルのすぐそばにあるマカーズ コートに入ります。ここでは、作家博物館を背景に、ロバート バーンズ、サー ウォルター スコット、ロバート ルイス スティーブンソンなど、スコットランドの最も重要な作家についてお話します。
ライターズ ミュージアムから数段の階段を下りると、旧市街で最も絵のように美しい通りの 1 つであるビクトリア ストリートに到着します。通りを歩いていくと、風変わりなお店や色鮮やかなファサードが目に入ります。
ビクトリア ストリートの一番下まで来ると、目の前に大きな広場が見えます。ここはグラスマーケット。パブで有名なエリアですが、非常に暗い過去を持っています。
グラスマーケットから数歩進むと、キャッスル エスプラネードに到着します。丘を登っていくと、ハブの黒い尖塔が見えてきます。この建物が何なのか説明します。キャッスル エスプラネードに着いたら、街の素晴らしい景色を楽しみ、エディンバラ ミリタリー タトゥーが行われる場所を見学します。
いよいよエディンバラ城に入る時間です。中に入ると、この建物の歴史と秘密を詳しく調べ、王、女王、戦い、包囲戦の魅力的な物語を思い出します。ガイド付きツアーの後は、城の屋内エリアを自分のペースで探索する機会があります。

We just had the best tour of Edinburgh and the Castle ever with Phil. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history. He knew all the facts, and the anecdotes and was immeasurably amusing, It was the perfect tour for us and I’d book another tour just to do it with him as guide.

We did the 11am tour with Nicole and she totally nailed the timing so we could catch the 1pm gun at the castle. We happened to be there on day one of the Fringe Festival, so the Royal Mile was insanely crowded and loud with street performers everywhere. Somehow Nicole still managed to find quiet little spots to fill us in on the history without having to yell over the noise. She clearly knows the area inside and out, and her stories about Edinburgh, the Royal Mile, and the castle gave us a great feel for the city right off the bat. If you can request her, do it!
