Everything organized in the best way, clean bus and very nice driver. Amazing Vesuvius
DO NOT BOOK this Tour! This was an 11 Euro park entry and 2.8 Euro local bus transfer. The price they charged for 2 adults and 1 child was 145 dollars! You can do the math.. the Euro cost was about 49 Euros (being generous). This is a complete scam and do not trust Viator or this travel agency. Know what you are buying… I have been arguing with both Viator and the local agency for a refund.
"Tour Mount Vesuvius with Entry Tickets and Round Trip Transfer Included" is a complete misnomer. This was literally nothing to write home about...all it did was get us to Vesuvius to the drop-off point to start our trek. "We'll drop you off at time X, and be back to the bus by time Y...we will not wait for you." Nothing about Vesuvius was shared, and the individual who gave us that instruction got off the bus. I would not consider this a "tour" at all...it was just a a $40 bus ticket. Also, major disorganization at the train station meeting place.
The meet up location is just next to the train exit, very easy to find. Duration is about right to complete a leisure walk. The driver drove safely and arrived the meet-up place punctually. Noted some people were unable to buy same day tickets at the counter. Happy not having missed the walk as ordered this round trip in advance.
Finding the right bus at the beginning was very difficult. There was not sign or person. We ended up standing in line to ask another tour. Going up and down the mountain was great. Our guide dropped us off and picked us up where he said he would at the bottom of the climb. The climb was a lot harder than I had read about.
We took the train to Pompeii station then the city offers a €3.80 bus where we could take a ticket on the bus directly. We took an entrance ticket on the official website, with which it is possible to enter 40min before the time indicated on the ticket. Arriving at the top we took 20/30min to get to the top. You need good shoes, there's a lot of climbing. You have enough to drink and eat arrived at the top, prices remain affordable. Very nice view, splendid place to discover.
Well it seems that, they are charging a lot more than the fee of entry. 30 euro each ticket. But we did ask about the ticket and the public transport. But instead of help we were told to buy the ticket for 30 euro and then we got into a car driving up there. I am a little disappointed in the way that business was conducted. Would not recommend this company based upon this experience.
Was confusing to find where to exchange voucher as wasn't 1st floor of train station as advised! That aside, was on time & driver amazed us with his ability to turn the coach on a sixpence!! We were glad we went as Vesuvius is amazing...we were lucky to have a clear day so the views were stunning. Not 5 stars as not convinced value for money, being "just" a transfer & entry ticket to the crater.
