I booked this adventure for my company retreat in September 2026. We were looking for an off-the-beaten-path way to explore El Yunque Rainforest, and Montaña Explora came highly recommended. Ricky worked with me to design an experience that would work with our time constraints. I very much appreciated that he proposed including lunch, as this was most convenient to the logistics of our day. There was some confusion about whether the transportation to the trail head would include seat belts (we require this per company policy), but it all worked out to get us to the trail head in several trips. The trail and attractions (pools and waterfalls) included in our route were just perfect for our time, interest and desired intensity level. Some participants could choose to sit out an activity if they wished, while ultimately keeping the group together. Ricky's guides are pros. They make all the moves to keep people safe and help them navigate the terrain, and they gave great information throughout. It's clear that they love this land and are comfortable and at home in the rainforest. It felt like a unique privilege to access Ricky's private reserve in the company of these outdoor experts. I think my favorite part, however, was spending time at the base camp after the excursion. It felt comfortable, friendly and relaxing to chill with farm animals and to shower outdoors. And the food the staff prepared was delicious. They were considerate about preparing alternate dishes for people with dietary restrictions. I really enjoyed sharing a meal with the staff and my colleagues; it made the experience feel even more like an insider's view into Puerto Rican culture and the amazing vibe of El Yunque Rainforest. Montaña Explora and Ricky did a great job and I highly recommend them!

Frankly one of the best experiences and tours we’ve ever done. Our tour guide, Luis Miguel, educated us on the forest, on Puerto Rican history, and had patience and care as we did our tour. It was highly private - just my husband and I, which is the way we prefer to travel. It worked out perfectly to our advantage, totally worth the money. We had a blast! From climbing the rocks and doing the zip lines, to jumping from some of the highest points possible during the tour - it was non-stop fun, and we felt safe and excited along the way. We came back to Ricky’s delicious cooking and tried some pitorro de coco and parcha, along with some delicious medallas to accompany our meal. We can’t wait to go back and explore more with Montaña Explora.

Both partner and I are adrenaline people in good shape. We tend to take reasonable risks and do strenuous activities so generally we find attractions boring. This was a pleasant surprise. The jump into the water was thrilling. The two wire cross staring at a waterfall was amazing. The Guide was very nice and the fact that his English was limited added to the adrenaline experience.

Best part of our trip to PR. Tour guide, Gabriel, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the jungle. He allowed for a very relaxed experience, which was pretty self paced and allowed you to challenge yourself as much as you were comfortable doing so. It’s slightly physically exerting but doable for just about anyone. The views were amazing and we even saw some old Taino petroglyphs in face rocks at the waterfalls. Aside from the adrenaline rush from the excursion, we left with a greater respect for the history of the islands history and culture.

Incredible start to finish. Amazing guides and the hike is extreme and gorgeous. Exactly what we were looking for!

If you are an adventure seeker this is a must do! This is by far the coolest excursion I have been on. If you are between looking at different options, stop! This is the one to do!! We wore old tennis shoes that we planned to toss. I wore my swimsuit with water shorts and a long sleeve sun shirt and was happy with that (leave the sunglasses). I brought one bottle of water and a banana and some almonds. I would just leave your phone if you have an iPhone, our guide, Gabriel, took great photos and videos and then airdropped after the trip. You need a backpack that goes over both shoulder to carry your water and snack plus carry your harness when it is not on. Whole thing was about 4 hours. Honestly I would travel back to PR just to do this excursion again!

We joined the tour not knowing what to expect, especially given the occasionally rainy weather, but we were pleasantly surprised! It ended up being only us 2 so we got a custom tour with Ferdinand and Gabriel. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and helped us trek, climb, zipline, swim up an amazing waterfall. Due to the rain, the water levels were too high in some of the watering holes but still got a chance to be in the water and swim under a waterfall. It was a fun, invigorating, and at times challenging. So happy we did this tour!

My husband, myself and our 17 year old son had the time of our lives on this adventure! Ziplining, rock climbing, traversing on high wires and sliding down waterfalls in the middle of the rainforest with Gabriel is worth every penny. Do not miss the opportunity to push yourself and experience a one of a kind experience. Gabriel was so knowledgeable and an expert in making you feel safe and in control the whole time. We will definitely recommend to friends and family visiting Puerto Rico!!

Had a wonderful time on this half day tour. I have three boys aged 10-16 and they all had a blast climbing, swimming under waterfalls, sliding down waterfalls and just exploring. Guides were amazing. Probably our best day in Puerto Rico!
