Useful for visiting key sites on own schedule, but very light on information, includes sites behind tarps due to renovation, and tricky to navigate from one point of interest to the next

This isn’t a postcard stroll. It’s a two-hour Self-Guided Walking Tour through headless martyrs, rebellious monks, medieval power moves, and a train line built for pastries. You’ll follow Roman roads, climb Gothic towers, and stand where Zurich once scared off an army with a well-timed bluff. From ruling abbesses to stained glass dreams and a final stop in a former weapons depot turned beer hall, this tour peels back the polished surface of one of Europe’s most quietly chaotic cities. Wear good shoes, bring curiosity, and save room for sausage. Zurich doesn’t shout — but it never stays still.
From the operator’s live schedule on Viator, checked Oct 13.
Marvel at the grand facade of Zurich’s central station, where modern bustle meets historic charm.
Enjoy a peaceful view from Lindenhof hill, once a Roman fortress and now a tranquil park above the old town.
Wander through Augustinergasse, a colorful medieval alley known for its bay windows and charming boutiques.
Pause outside St. Peter’s Church to admire the largest church clock face in Europe—visible from many corners of Zurich.
Step into Hirschen-Platz, a cozy square that whispers tales of medieval guilds and Zurich’s vibrant street life.
Gaze up at the striking Predigerkirche, with its tall tower and fascinating blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
Stand before the iconic twin towers of Grossmünster, the cradle of the Swiss Reformation and a true Zurich landmark.
Admire the graceful Fraumünster church from the outside, famous for its Marc Chagall stained-glass windows inside.
Take in the historic charm of Zeughauskeller, once a weapons depot and now a bustling restaurant.

The walking tour sounded like a really nice way of seeing the city but unfortunately the web-based tour was riddled with spam. The site is highly unsecured and appears deliberate.
It seemed to take us in circles instead of in a better order. Verbal Guide was good. Going from map to information on next spot was not very easy.
Thank you, Laurel! A route that doubles back on itself is a fair thing to call out, and we're reordering the Zurich stops so the walk runs in a straighter line. Moving between the map and the next stop's text is clunkier than it should be, and that one sits with us rather than with you. Good to know the audio itself held up. Hope to accompany you in another city.
Not impressed with this tour. Half of the stops were under construction so I couldn’t see anything. The google map directions constantly took me to the wrong side of the stop, so I ended up wandering around until I found the front of the building. Big waste of time in my opinion.
We’re sorry to hear that the Zurich tour was frustrating and did not meet your expectations. Construction and unclear map positioning can seriously affect the experience, and we appreciate you pointing this out. We’ll review the affected stops and directions. Please contact us at info@ciceru.com with your booking details, and we’ll be happy to look into it and make it right.
This whole experience was beyond expectations! The guide, Joe was so good and provided the history and culture on our way to to Jungfraujoch. Pretty sure his name wasn’t really Joe, but at the beginning that is how he introduced himself.
Thank you for your review. We’re so glad the experience exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed the stories and cultural insights along the way. It’s great to hear it felt worth it.
