Zugspitze: Germany's Highest Mountain Day Tour from Munich
Description
This day trip takes you through the charming Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. You start your ascent with the new cable car, which will take you to the almost 3,000 meter high mountain peak in just ten minutes. After enjoying the exhilarating views over more than 400 peaks, you can explore the countryside on a short hike. For those who like things a bit faster, a toboggan hill is available on the eternal ice during the summer months. Toboggans can be borrowed free of charge. In the many restaurants (which also offer vegetarian and halal menus) you can indulge in culinary delights. The descent then takes place with the historic rack railway.

Itinerary
After a 2-hour drive from Munich with live commentary you'll arrive at Eibsee. There, you'll take the cable car up the Zugspitze.
After a one-hour stay at the viewing platform, you'll walk to the golden summit cross (approx. 45-60 min) and at 2pm approx. you'll take the cable car to the "Zugspitzplatt" with glacier. You'll have some time at disposal to have lunch or time for a bob slide on the glacier (Restaurants with Self-Service and Halal food). At approx. 4:00 PM Meeting at the Zugspitzstation to descend with the cogwheel train, and at 4:45 pm you'll start the bus drive back to Munich.

What an unforgettable day at Zugspitze! From the very first moment to the last, the views were absolutely breathtaking — every turn offered something more stunning than the last. The entire trip was beautifully organized from start to finish. Our guide, Monika, made the experience truly special — she was warm, attentive, and endlessly patient with us. Our driver, Matko, did a fantastic job getting us safely and smoothly through it all. Together they made the whole day feel effortless and fun. The journey itself was magical — from the lush green valleys below, all the way up to the mountain peaks and the stunning glacier plateau at the top. Every part of the experience felt like something out of a postcard. This is truly a must-see destination, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!”

Terrible service from Viator. The pick up point in the app didn’t specify a building number (just a vast square). I messaged the day before my trip to clarify this and they gave me the wrong address. I arrived punctually at that address the morning of my trip. I was suspicious because there were no signs of a bus/other travellers. So I messaged again. Again, they told me the same address. Turns out it was completely wrong. I missed the trip and was left stranded alone with a small child. No offer to catch me up to the tour (which had only departed 4 mins before the mistake was realised). No offer of support at all. In fact, the agent on the chat started trying to position this as somehow my fault. Terrible and very upsetting experience, especially as a single parent trying to travel alone with a child like any other family.

As the tour had already departed from the designated meeting point, our team was unfortunately unable to delay the scheduled excursion or arrange an individual pickup after departure. We fully understand your frustration, particularly as you had actively tried to verify the correct location beforehand. We therefore recommend addressing the matter directly with Viator, as they provided the incorrect meeting-point information and handled the communication described in your review. We sincerely regret that this prevented you and your child from joining our Zugspitze tour as planned.
