Wilson is clearly a passionate individual who feels strongly about sharing information about Yellowknife. He’s friendly and kind and willing to go the extra mile. Highly recommend!!
The tour guide picked us up from our hotel and drove us around Yellowknife City. They provided detailed explanation of the museum and made sure everyone was within the area as they explained. We also visited souvenir shops with little tidbits here and there about the local history. We stopped by the Bush Pilots Monument and got a great view of the city. At the end, they also brought us to a Diamond and Jewelry Center with a short video on the mining history of Yellowknife. Overall, the tour gives you an idea of the history, culture, and livelihood of Yellowknife. At the end, you get a certificate at the Visitor Center with fun stamps! Drop off is anywhere you’d like within the city or back to your hotel.
It was great! There were only 4 of us, so very personalized. We saw, we learned and we shopped. Unfortunately the diamond place was closed.
Our guide picked us up at our bnb and dropped us off at our request at RavenQuilts. They were knowledgeable and personable. We were able to get an overview of Yellowknife with a personal touch. At the end of our tour we stopped at the best local art shop Down to Earth Gallery, to browse and then taken to our final destination. Our guide walk us through the museum with information given throughout our visit. Our Diamond Store visit was filled with local and mining information. It was a peaceful break from nightly Auroras and daily active adventures.
Although our guide Pei was very nice and flexible, she was not as knowledgeable about Yellowknife, its history or culture as she should have been. She has not done her homework. We appreciated her willingness to veer off the itinerary.
Thank you, Dear Sylvia. We do our best, and of course, we do not claim to know it all. It is a city tour, so the guide familiarizes you with the whole city and also shows you all the famous attractions in the city so that you are not missing anything while in the famous city of Yellowknife and also provides you detailed knowledge about the whole city and also it benefits our guests by saving a lot's on your taxi fares by simply joining a guided city tour and it is not particular a history tour with decades of history (which is very much available in the museum and it is a part of the city tour) history tour which is only possible through a local aboriginal host for which you may look on google search. In this city tour, there are already so many items involved that there is no more room for more items in the timeline for the tour nor we expect our guides doing half day historic tours keeping the cost of this tour in consideration (which is the lowest cost of all) which involves a lots of Items as per the itinerary. Our guides are professional and licenced guides. Hope you enjoyed all the points of interest in a warm, cozy private SUV instead of a common tour bus, which was a free-of-cost upgrade, and we were happy to add your 1 person as a last-minute booking who was not booked for this tour. Hope the tour lasted long enough (2.5 to 3 Hours) and covered all of the items as per the itinerary mentioned during this time. You may do lot's more than a city tour if you have interest in the local history and culture such as, old town walking / self guided tours and also go to the Ice road and enjoy a warm beverage in numerous local coffee shops and engage with locals which are not a part of city tour.
Tour guide was very nice and friendly but it was difficult to understand some of what she said - English was not her native language. people in the back of vehicle could not hear any of what was said over the heater
Dear Terry, Thank you so much for your Review, Yes we do get these complaints as seen in the reviews below. The heater is loud (But nice and warm) Sometimes the heater is not sufficient and cold but the tour was nice. We have to do our best in balancing both, keeping the guests warm in the freezing weather and also providing a good experience. However sometimes not able to stand your expectations.
Our tour guide, Amit, did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to answer our questions and bring us see all the interesting landmarks of this city.
Moe gave us a personalized tour and did an excellent job of explaining the various sites in Yellowknife. He was very knowledgeable about the city and its history. We highly recommend his tour to learn about the city and its culture and people.
This tour was way more thorough than I could have expected! Emmit (excuse my spelling) was well educated about the area and its culture and history, we walked away feeling enriched with a healthy to do list for the rest of our trip! I recommend taking this tour the first day of your trip, so you can take some of the guides suggestions for the rest of your adventure!
Our tour guide, Amit, really very knowledgable. He explained everything very clearly. He was able to answer every question we asked. We really enjoyed this trip.
