Itinerary
Frognerseteren
Pass by
Your adventure begins in the heart of Oslo, where your guide will meet you at the When in Norway tour center. From there, we’ll hop on the metro for a scenic ride, passing through charming neighborhoods on our way to Frognerseteren Station, perched 500 meters above the fjord.
Ovresetertjern Lake
45 min
After a few moments to enjoy the stunning view of the city lights below, it's time to start your adventure and head off into the night! We will take a short walk over to the frozen Øvresetertjern Lake, where you will enjoy a cozy campfire - Norwegian style.
Around the fire you will enjoy some hot drinks, good conversation, roast marshmallows and watch the flames dance off the snow and ice as you have a moment of what Scandinavians like to call "hygge".
45 min
After enjoying the campfire, each guest will be given a hand-held flame torch and, after a quick safety briefing, we’ll set off into the winter wilderness. The forest comes alive in the glow of our torches as we take a leisurely walk through the snowy landscape. The snow sparkles like fresh-cut gems, and the moonlight dances on the trees while the warm light from our torches adds a magical glow to the surroundings. Along the way, your guide will share stories and interesting facts about the area, with plenty of opportunities to stop and capture the beauty around you.
The walk will last about 45 minutes and will end by the metro which takes us back to civilization.
On our tours, guests' safety always comes first. On this tour we move through the forest with live fire. If the guide assesses that the situation or the weather challenges the guests' safety, we will not use torches. We still wander through the forest, and end up lighting a campfire.

Amazing evening in the woods
The experience was amazing from start to finish the guide (sorry don’t remember his name) was very formative from the start he introduced himself and told us what was happing the waffles, and hot chocolate by the canp fire was amazing and enjoyed it very much. The walk with the touches I loved so much was hoping to see a wolf but no luck. Would have liked if the walk was longer but that just a personal thing. I would highly recommend going and I will be definitely be going again

A real Oslo treat!
Great walk in the forest. Nice and cold and beautiful. Campfire and the hot chocolate were a real treat and the torches were a nice touch for sure. All in all it was a good time if you like walking in the snow. Just make sure you have good boots. Peter did a great job guiding us. We all made it back alive. Five stars.

Very nice experience
It's a very well organized tour. We had a very nice and enthusiastic guide who was also very helpful with tips on other activities and options. This tour is good for both old and young with a nice stop by the campfire with marshmellows and hot chocolate. Definitely recommended.

Magical experience! ❄️
This was such a magical experience. The cabin in the woods surrounded by snow was so picturesque, it even started to snow while we were there around the campfire 😍 so so beautiful!
Walking with the flame torches was something else - a unique experience that I will never forget 🥹

Beautiful scenic winter walk with fire torches…
Had an absolutely wonderful time on the hike today - Lyn (I think that’s her name???) was a wonderful lady… she looked after us really well..
Felt at ease from the minute meeting her at the backstube cafe till dropping us back at central ….
Went on the metro for around 30/40 mins up until the forest.. walked across a frozen lake - to a log cabin and had a hot chocolate and got to toast some marshmallows (also waffles and sauce included) then lite our torches and set of for a 40/45 mins ish walk (very snowy and beautiful)
it was truly beautiful up at frognerseteren park.
Would highly recommended

Cold Front in the Forest!
This trip is definitely for thrill seekers and people who enjoy the combination of wilderness and the cold. Our tour guide was very friendly and resourceful. The walk itself was a little shorter than I expected but i couldn't imagine it being much longer as my toes almost froze. It was nice to witness people throwing a birthday party in the woods which is a first for me but it was cool. I recommend this for those who enjoy a slight challenge.

Lovely snowy hike
Well organised, Lynn was super smiley and helpful. Lovely hike to the cabin where we had hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows on the fire. We then had a second hike with the torches back to the start and the train back to Oslo. Would recommend

Magical winter night time walk in the forest
Quite simply the highlight of our stay in Oslo. Crisp, fresh snow, a brilliant, informative guide in Tom (or maybe Thom?), delicious hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows and a truly magical experience, walking through the forest with torches at dark. We loved every minute, thank you so much

A magical walk and camp fire in the Oslo forest.
We had a brilliant time in this trip. Tom and Miles we excellent guides and made sure everyone enjoyed the experience. We set off at dusk and travelled by metro up into the hills above Oslo. We were very lucky to experience light snow on our 23rd December tour and this certainly added to the experience. Top marks to Tom and Miles for personally arranging the snow! We enjoyed the camp fire, the hot chocolate, toasting waffles and marshmallows followed by a magical forest walk with lit torches. We travelled with grown up children and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful Oslo experience. 100% recommended, even if you don't have snow.
