Itinerary
Your adventure begins at our private pier in Puerto Juárez. Upon arrival, enjoy a light coffee break while meeting your guide and the rest of the group. Before boarding, your guide will provide a safety briefing, explain the day's itinerary, and share useful tips for swimming with the whale sharks. Once everyone is ready, it's time to board the boat and head out in search of these magnificent gentle giants.
After departing from our private pier in Puerto Juárez, you'll cruise across the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Along the way, you'll pass the beautiful coastline of Isla Mujeres before heading farther offshore, where the sea transforms into deep, vibrant shades of blue. During the journey, keep an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles, rays, and seabirds, which are often spotted along the route. As you approach the whale shark feeding area, your guide will help you look for the first signs of these magnificent gentle giants, making the anticipation part of the adventure itself.
Once we arrive at the whale shark area, the captain and guide will search for the best opportunities to safely approach these magnificent animals while respecting all conservation regulations. When it's your turn, you'll enter the water in pairs with your certified guide for an unforgettable snorkeling experience alongside the world's largest fish. Our small-group tours maximize your chances of enjoying up to two swims per person, depending on sea conditions, wildlife activity, and park regulations. Between swims, relax on the boat and watch the incredible action as whale sharks, giant manta rays, and other marine life feed in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters. This is a truly unique wildlife encounter and one of the most memorable experiences the Mexican Caribbean has to offer.
On our last stop, we'll anchor in front of the world-famous Playa Norte beach from Isla Mujeres. This idyllic spot is renowned for its soft white sands, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant atmosphere. We'll share a typical Caribbean lunch featuring delicious ceviche, creamy guacamole, and crunchy totopos. Afterward, celebrate the day by wading in the shallow, warm waters or simply relax and soak up the sun on the pristine beach.

However, this duration may extend due to weather conditions, the location of the whale sharks, and the number of swimming opportunities. Additionally, the transfer time from your hotel to our pier varies based on your location and current traffic conditions. Including transfers, expect the entire tour to last between 7 and 12 hours

Our whale shark adventure was absolutely unforgettable and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were treated to an unexpected manta ray encounter that left everyone speechless. Gliding alongside these gentle giants was pure magic and made the day feel truly once‑ in a lifetime. Vanessa, our guide, was the heart of the experience. Her warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm turned the day into something extraordinary. She made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident in the water, and her excitement was contagious. You could tell she genuinely loves sharing the ocean’s beauty. Dani, Gio, and Joaquin were also fantastic and professional, friendly, and always ready to help. This was such a cool and unique experience! The guides, Dory and Arturo, really made the trip fantastic. When I got seasick, Dory cured me with a bottle of shockingly cold water on my head. There were so many whale sharks! Definitely worth every penny!

I had the most AMAZING time!! From the get go the whole experience was perfect and professional. Travel and booking was easy as well with the pick up and drop off being very smooth. The whole process was relaxing and very enjoyable. I especially loved our tour guide Vanessa who made our experience one of a kind. The amount of compassion and knowledge she has for the whale sharks and other sea life was enlightening and made the experience that much better that we knew we were following the correct rules and keeeping the sea life and ecosystems safe. The steps to get to the whale sharks and the schedule of the day was very well explained clearly and helped us to feel safe and got the most out of the trip. Vanessa was amazing in and out the water with us helping me to feel confident in the water and enjoy the experience so much more. Also her service was incredible making sure we felt comfortable with plenty of water, food and help protecting us from the sun. Her colleagues Dani, Gio and Esteban were also amazing and gave us incredible service. The drive to the pier was easy and stress free with snacks and water for the journey. The boat ride can be very bumpy and harsh if windy but our captain was very talented and steered the boat accordingly to the waves allowing our journey to be more comfortable! He also managed to give us a once in the lifetime opportunity by lining us up perfectly with the whale sharks without being too close and keeping everyone safe! The skipper was amazing in the water ensuring we found the whale sharks and kept the correct distance and kept alongside it. Lunch was delicious and fresh! We even managed to see mantarays and dolphins on the way back which was so special! Overall I would highly recommend this experience and booking with this tour group they are highly knowledgable about the environment and location which makes it even more special. What an amazing day! Our Guide Vanessa and colleagues Dani, Gio & Esteban were brilliant in every way! Our family had amazing multiple swims with the Whale Sharks and we also saw Manta Rays and a pod of Dolphins on the return trip! The passion and enthusiasm from the Ocean Tour Team shone through the whole day! We had lovely sandwiches and then stopped off at a lovely island and swam in blue waters and saw a Turtle afterwards we had an amazing Ceviche Lunch!
