Western Balkan Explorer Tour “Blue Route”

Dreamy road trip through the Balkans - Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia We did this 10 days tour with Exoticca that was led by our Tour Guide Saimir Zyka. This was truly a unique experience. From the time we landed in Tirana, our transport was waiting for us to take us to the hotel. Saimir arrived on time the next day to start our tour. A very well organised itinerary that was full of interesting sightseeing followed by detailed information and instructions throughout the tour. Saimir is a very professional tour guide and organised every visit in a timely manner. His knowledge of the Balkans is very detailed and always gave time respond to any questions. As a person I found him very approachable and helpful at all times. The Driver Eddie was very patient and always gave consideration to all the group members. Our transport on the last day arrived in time for the drop off at the airport. The hotels selected by Exoticca were good and centrally located. Saimir made our trip extremely enjoyable and well organised. A very pleasant and memorable experience. I am glad we had Saimir as our tour guide.

Wonderful experience with our tour guy Saimir Zuka. He is the best tour guy I ever had. He give us a lot interesting information for every point. He is well educated, smart and very important he care about all group. Lot of suggestions and help if needed. Highly recommend this tour and specially Saimir.

Our multi‑country tour through Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina was already thoughtfully designed, but what truly elevated the experience was our guide, Saimir Ismaili. From the first day, his charisma and calm confidence set the tone: we were in capable and thoughtful hands, and we could relax into the journey knowing he had every detail in view. Even when unexpected challenges cropped up, as they inevitably do while traveling, Saimir handled them with a kind of practiced grace that never made the group feel rushed or unsettled. When our bus broke down, he and our driver, Jovi, coordinated a smooth transition to a replacement vehicle and even managed to get us to a comfortable spot to wait. It’s the sort of moment that could have soured a day, but instead became a small story of teamwork and good humor. The buses themselves were comfortable and well‑kept, with reclining seats, stow‑away tables, curtains, and plenty of storage which was perfect for taking in the stunning landscapes that seemed to unfold endlessly around us. Our accommodations met every need, and breakfasts were consistently enjoyable and quaint. Saimir even worked with one hotel to surprise a traveler in our group with a homemade lemon–poppy seed cake for their birthday, which was a gesture so thoughtful it still makes me smile. I'm still kicking myself for not asking for the recipe. Each local tour we joined was led by guides who were not only knowledgeable but genuinely passionate. They spoke with clarity, answered every question, and shared their cities with a kind of pride that made each stop feel special. Saimir even surprised us with baklava that his mother prepared! The day in Sarajevo stands out most vividly. Walking through a city so beautiful and resilient, while hearing firsthand reflections on the genocide that occurred not too long ago, was profoundly moving. Our tour guide wove his personal experiences into the history of the place with sensitivity and honesty, reminding us that these events are not distant abstractions, but rather they are lived realities with consequences that echo through generations. This trip was more than a checklist of destinations; it was a journey shaped by people who care deeply about the stories, landscapes, and communities we encountered. Thanks to Saimir’s experience, leadership, and genuine warmth, we came away not only with beautiful memories, but with a deeper understanding of the region and its history. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone considering it.

This trip offered highlights of the 4countries we visited-Albania, Montenegro , Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina. A good introduction to decide where you want to go back to! The schedule was aggressive, but manageable. Our tour guide, Saimir Zyka, was excellent and one of the highlights of the trip. He was knowledgeable, personable, counted everyone every time we got back on the bus ( important with a larger group) and a great problem solver. The day we reached Tara Bridge in Montenegro it was not open and he quickly found a solution so we would not have to drive another 2 hours in the bus. He hired taxis on the other side to take us to our hotel, only about 15 minutes from the bridge. We were all appreciative! I would definitely recommend Saimir as a guide for anyone traveling in the Balkans.

The tour was excellent, minor problem like delay luggages but thanks to Samir Zyka, our guide. He is terrific, experienced, passionate, knowledgeable and very helpful. Thanks again Samir.

I had a wonderful trip. The experience of scheduling and management of the overall trip was handled well! Visiting 4 countries in 8 days was a lot, but we saw & learned so much, and absolutely loved the beautiful scenery. I would have liked a little more time in some areas, but just because there is so much to see. Our tour guide, Saimir Zyka, was fantastic! Not only with his knowledge of the territory we covered, but incredibly kind and fun, and a very nimble problem solver. There were 37 of us from all over the world on the bus for 8 days, and we all had a great time, which says a lot! Saimir was a huge part of that. He provided recommendations on where to go/ eat at each stop, and I absolutely loved the food! Shout out to our amazing bus driver as well! I highly recommend this trip, and Saimir. But do pack lightly, and be ready to be constantly on the move.

We had such an amazing trip!! Our tour guide, Saimir Zyka, has an excellent problem solving skill, creating a cohesive travel experience for us!! Besides, we had a skilled driver, had experienced incredible cuisine, saw the amazing scenery with great history exposure. We couldn't be happier with the trip!! Thank you, Saimir!!!
