West Side Private Full Day Tours around Madeira Island

I had the pleasure of doing several tours with Diogo and Riccardo during my time in Madeira, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Between the different tours, we covered nearly the entire island, with plenty of flexibility to spend more time in the places that interested me most while still making sure we experienced the highlights of each region. Their local knowledge was invaluable. They shared insights and introduced me to places and perspectives I never would have discovered on my own, making the experience feel much more personal than a standard sightseeing tour. Both Diogo and Riccardo are excellent drivers, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely wonderful company. I especially enjoyed our conversations throughout the days. The tours were comfortable, relaxed, informative, and above all, enjoyable. They made exploring Madeira such a memorable part of my trip. If you want to experience the island with knowledgeable locals who make you feel comfortable while showing you the very best of Madeira, I can’t recommend Diogo and Riccardo enough.

We booked the West and East side tours with Diogo following a recommendation from a friend who travelled to Madeira and he did not disappoint. The tours were amazing showcasing the beauty of this island. We were able to take our time and enjoy the stunning views and we did not feel rushed. Diogo was great. He was professional and very friendly. We felt looked after by him with his careful driving and he accommodated our needs and preferences. We learnt lots about Madeira and he was eager to learn when we shared the similarities to our culture too. We were so happy with Diogo that we booked a sunset tour with him. The sunset above the clouds is very special. He also helped organise our last hike before we left. We highly recommend Diogo and his company.

The experience was incredible you really get to see everything on the west side with all of its beauty. I made so many memories and Diogo was so informative and friendly he explained everything and made sure we knew when we were going through the famous tunnel. He some how managed to put up with my families non stop talking lol and we had an amazing time I really recommend it was epic

We have booked 2 x a private day trip with our family. Both the east side and the west side. Both sides are beautiful with breathtaking views. Because of your private booking you can take the time you need and you don't have to wait unnecessarily. The had forgotten to book the levada walk at the east tour but Diogo fortunately arranged a last minute booking for us. In the refrigerated car we enjoyed the explanation we got about the island. The 2nd day tour was provided by his brother and there we also got plenty of explanation. Really 2 sympathetic, accessible men. Even our timid adolescents started the conversation and asked questions. We got nice tips about local restaurants and also called on the taxi service that Diogo offers outside the tours. Always punctual, smooth return, a safe feeling and a correct price! Highly recommended!

The pickup and drop-off were incredibly smooth. The van was incredibly comfortable. Diogo surprised us with a fun stop at the Funal Forest, which was the highlight of the trip. He was very informative throughout the entire journey. We ended up choosing him for the airport drop-off as well.

This was great. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the island, took time where we needed it and was super flexible and helpful. This tour was a great way to see the island and get acclimated. Totally recommend it.

Diogo was an outstanding tour guide. We had already done the East Madeira tour and Sunrise at Pico do Arieiro tour with him so we booked the West Madeira tour & Porto Moniz with him. He was very informative and told us to bring bathing suits. We went to all of the following beautiful places: Camara de Lobas, Cabo Girao, Ribeira Brava, Fanal Forest, Ribeira da Janela, Sao Vicente and last Porto Moniz & volcanic pools. Diogo was an excellent driver and always advised us of what to wear and where we could find excellent food. He went beyond being a tour guide. He took my daughters to a special hiking trail. He also was able to get us to the airport on the day we left. I have traveled quite a bit so I must say if you are going to Madeira you must contact Diogo!

We had a wonderful full day tour with Ricardo. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the island and provided us with a lot of information. We had provided an itinerary ahead of the tour for the items we wanted to visit / see, and not only did we hit all of those, but we were able to go to extra sights that Ricardo recommended and really made the tour valuable. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madeira.

We had an AMAZING day with Diogo! Our family of 3 saw what felt like the entire island. We also learned so much about the local history and traditions, and saw so many beautiful, diverse landscapes. Diogo was super knowledgeable and engaging even for our 9-year old. He knew all the best stops for us to take some amazing photos. Everything was very smooth and flexible. We cannot recommend highly enough booking with Diogo while in Madeira.

We had three separate full day tours with Diogo and Ricardo who are brothers. They tailored our tours to meet our wishes. We wanted to have plenty of time to walk and experience the beauty of Madeira at our own pace. We wanted lunch in family-owned restaurants and no gift shops. They exceeded our expectations in every way. It was great to have a professional driver. Many of the secondary roads are steep, narrow and winding. It was very relaxing to sit back and enjoy the scenery while being chauffeured around. Another advantage of being in a small van was that we could get into places the buses couldn’t. All-in-all we could not think of a nicer way to experience the beauty of Madeira. We hope you enjoy their company as much as we did.
