Waves & Watercolors: A Seaside Painting Workshop

When I signed up for a watercolor painting workshop in the City of Artists (Rovinj <3), I have to admit, I had pretty high expectations. Luckily, they were met 100% and even exceeded! The workshop takes place on a picturesque beach, in a spot where there’s plenty of room to comfortably set up with all the materials. As you work through the different exercises, you can not only enjoy the sound of the waves, but also have a lovely chat with the instructor. Besides art-related topics, she’s happy to share stories about Croatia and recommend places worth visiting. It’s a wonderful experience, and you get to leave with a handmade souvenir! Personally, I also left feeling completely recharged with artistic energy, and I’ve been painting with watercolors ever since. :) I highly recommend the whole experience!

We met at a beautiful seaside location close to our hotel where my daughter and Renata painted — it was really special, Overall, a lovely experience painting close to nature. Our daughter was incredibly patient, curious, and eager to learn under Renata’s expert tuition, and it was wonderful to see how beautifully her paintings developed A must to experience in Rovinj, Thanks!!!!

This was a really wonderful experience. Renata organized this lesson in a beautiful place, sitting on rocks next to the sea under the shade of a tree. She brought so much art material with her, and genuinely cared about teaching the techniques she knows. I really enjoyed the colors and nature and the outcome of our session and she was very patient and kind. Thank you Renata!

With Renata, I had the opportunity to experience a wonderful watercolor workshop in Rovinj on a sunny and mild afternoon in May. The location on the rocky steps, under an impressive tree right by the sea, was carefully chosen. Renata also put a lot of thought into how an outsider can find these places and reach them by bus or car with parking options. She provided all the materials. Very high-quality watercolor paper and watercolor paints (Renata shared her in-depth knowledge about the different qualities, which impressed me greatly), sturdy boards for mounting the sheets, various brushes, sketching pencils, etc., were available. For the introduction, we created a sheet with various basic techniques. She explained the techniques very well and also provided direct tips during the implementation. Then there was a nice selection of sea motifs; it was almost difficult to decide. We chose the seahorse with the little turtle. Now it was time to apply the techniques we had practiced earlier. It was a lot of fun and turned out very well. Renata works very carefully and takes the necessary time with great calmness. I really liked that. In 3.5 hours, 2 beautiful leaves were created. We visited Renata's painting workshop on the beach in August. We were blown away. The setting directly on the sea was a dream. Renata takes a lot of time, tells you tricks for watercolor painting and all this with a kindness and calmness. At the end you paint another picture. It was a beautiful experience where we remember it fondly.

Even in bad weather there was an alternative place that was perfect. Our girls ( both 17 ) were more than enthusiastic

Enjoy a morning or evening by the Croatian seaside and find your creative side. This watercolor workshop was wonderful and really pushed my creativity and revealed a new interest and skill. Renata the hosting artist is kind and patient in her instruction. I enjoyed the session with her and highly recommend this unique booking for memories you will cherish each time you see your own artwork.
