A perfect introduction to Geiko history and culture
It was so interesting to learn about the history and culture of the geikos and the geiko districts in Kanazawa. It was the perfect introduction before the evening Meet the Geiko performance. It was quite a lot of walking but was well paced, and our guide Aya was so knowledgeable and explained things really well. Would highly recommend.
Operator response
Thank you for your lovely comment. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed learning about the geiko before watching them perform on stage at the Meet the Geiko evening. Our guide also had a wonderful time showing you and other guests the districts.

Pleasant and Interesting Walk in Geiko Areas
Very informative, interesting walking tour led by Hiromi. She attended to guests needs by providing ear phones so we could all hear her commentary even if we’ve wandered off to take a photo. And Thankyou for the hand warmers. Much needed on a chilly April night. Small group. Highly recommended.
Operator response
Thank you for joining our walking tour. We are pleased to know you found the tour informative and interesting, and that you liked the hand warmer! The photos you took look very beautiful. Thank you for sharing :)

Unforgettable Experiences with The Art of Geisha
I visited Kanazawa after hearing about its beautifully preserved Geiko districts, and it did not disappoint! I joined the walking tour by The Art of Geisha on October 16th 2025, which took us through the two Geiko districts, Higashi and Kazue-machi, and it was great. The two-hour length felt perfect, giving plenty of time to stroll, observe, and truly appreciate the atmosphere while learning about Geiko culture.
Our guide was fantastic. She spoke excellent English, was incredibly knowledgeable, and had a lovely presence. I also appreciated that we were given headphones so we could hear her clearly at all times, even while walking through busy areas. It made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
The surroundings were stunning, and the tour itself was both relaxing and enriching. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kanazawa.
I also attended two other experiences offered by The Art of Geisha: the "Meet the Geiko" event and the "Geiko Performance and Behind-the-Scenes Tour". I enjoyed all three activities equally, and they complemented each other beautifully. Together, they gave me a deeper appreciation for the culture, artistry, and history of Geiko traditions.
The Art of Geisha truly made my trip to Kanazawa special. Every event was exceptionally well organized, and their staff members are amazing. Thank you for the unforgettable memories you created for me.

A Very Informative and Enjoyable Tour
I can highly recommend this tour of the Geiko districts. I had no idea that Kanazawa had such a rich history of Geiko (often called Geisha in other areas of Japan) - I can now understand why people call Kanazawa 'Little Kyoto'. It was so lovely to walk around the two districts and learn about their history, see the old-style buildings, and some architectural styles unique to the tea houses. A must do for anyone interested in Japanese culture!
Operator response
Thank you for the lovely words! We are very glad to know you learned a lot and deepened your understanding of Kanazawa through our tour. It means a lot to us! :) [Art of Geisha]
