Walk the Kolkata Wetlands: Green Eye Candy

The experience was truly exceptional!!! As I chose a cycling option, Shirish provided me with a bike (gloves and helmet are optional) and we set off. Initially I was a bit nervous about about cycling on Kolkata’s roads, but Shirish navigated us seamlessly through the traffic until, after about 10 mins, we reached the calm and quiet of the Wetlands - a true oasis in Kolkata. Shirish is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing his passion with others, so no questions were left unanswered. Also, his hospitability is second to none. Thank you again for this exceptional experience!!!

It was a great tour, thank you so much for it! Starting with the good communication, the precise provision of bike, helmet and gloves, the careful accompaniment by the morning traffic kakuttas, - everything was right! Shirish is a very good guide who leaves room for your own experience and brings joy to Calcutta's stories, I always like to book a tour with him!

This was a peaceful morning walk and a nice change from the busy city. Unfortunately it was very foggy the morning we went but Shirish explained a lot of it to us while walking around and the general conversation made up for the lack of views.

It’s different from most of the activities one is likely to do in Kolkata and takes you to an area of wetlands which you readily see on a map but wouldn’t know how to explore. But, depending on where you are staying in the city it’s a long way for a not very long walk. No metro stop nearby. Sadly limited in terms of seeing birdlife.

I really enjoyed the nature walk through the beautiful Wetlands of Kolkata, I could watch the fishermen fishing too :) Thanks Shirish and Nina for showing me this part of Kolkata.

It’s a funny thing. Visiting a big city, and the thing you want the most is solitude and quiet. This bike tour is just that. Highly recommended.

Only ten minutes from the city of Kolkata, you can find an other world. Silence, peace, fishes, cormorans and green, green, green everywhere. My guide, Shirish is a real paassionnate about this place, I have got lors of stories, the names of differents trees, plants, flovers. We has a two hours tour this day, because too hot for me, but it changed my day - I returned to the busy, Monday morning city with peace in my soul.

Thank you for the beautiful tour. It was a great experience and a good opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The tour was worth getting up early for. I can fully recommend it!

Really worth to do this trip. Our guide Shirish explained about the wetlands and it's history. The bycles have been in good condition and adapted. Before we left i was a little scared about the traffic. But early morning there was less traffic and the guide chooses good roads. Fortunately i got used to the short pieces with more traffic.. No problems.

We had a wonderful morning ride through the wetlands with Shirish. He knew a lot about the area. Above all, he was a very pleasant person to cycle with. I highly recommend the trip for those who have some cycling experience.
