From September 7, 2026, through October 31, 2027, the City Airport Train will operate for 14 months using comfortable premium buses to ensure that transfers between Wien Mitte and the airport remain as convenient and fast as usual With a journey time of only 21 minutes from Vienna Airport to the city center, the City Airport Train is the fastest way to travel – without stress and traffic jams and in an environmentally friendly way. The CAT travels between Vienna International Airport and Wien-Mitte from early morning to late at night, 365 days a year. Comfortable seats, plenty of legroom, free magazines and newspapers, news reports on video screens, free high-speed Wi-Fi as well as power outlets and USB ports are included as well.

Instead of a train, there is only a bus
Something like this only happens at Vienna Airport: The company is called City Airport TRAIN - and after you buy a train ticket and wait on the platform, it turns out at some point that there is no train at all. From the platform where no train is standing, you then have to walk across the entire airport building to the other end, in the end you were stuck in traffic, also the time for how long the transfer takes does not match reality - Absolutely not recommended - with the ÖBB trains I would have been three times faster and cheaper. Annoying
I travel regularly with CAT. This time the trip from Vienna to the airport was fine. On the way back, the bus drove off while I was briefly looking for my ticket; that was annoying.

Perfect service
The replacement buses were very easy to find, everything was labeled perfectly, on-site advice, great price for annual pass holders, fast connection, short intervals. Bravo!

They do not offer a direct alternative to the airport
On August 10, 2026, when we planned to take the direct train to the airport, the line was interrupted; as an alternative, we were offered a bus that dropped us off at a stop for the S7 tram line to resume the journey to the airport. For the price of the ticket, a little over 10 euros, the company could have established a direct bus route to the airport.

No service, just overpriced.
The price is an absolute outrage!!! And then they aren't even capable of ordering the immediate repair of the elevator at the airport. You have to lug the heavy suitcases down the stairs, so that you almost fall down the stairs yourself. By the way, an escalator works in both directions!!! They should have just let the escalator run in the other direction after the people arriving at the airport got off. But the CAT staff is apparently too incompetent and negligent for that. The main thing is ripping people off. Truly an imposition.

Easy, friendly service, quiet. I highly recommend it. It was pleasurable to get to the airport on time and without a hassle.

16 minutes straight from the airport to the city Mitte station Safe and secure for first-time visitors Cheap SBAHHN takes a long time to get back to the airport when you have a train accident, so CAT choice ... when I got back to the airport after a long time, it was safe and fast and comfortable with a lot of tourists
