Via Ferrata for Beginners a Step by Step Course in Mojstrana

We did the family ferrata course (adult + 2 kids aged 8 and 12) in Mojstrana. The guide was super professional and experienced. Really great at explaining and motivating the kids (and adults). For us it was a great experience. Would definitely recommend the course!

Great fo begginers who new to the world of ferratas. Amazing instructor teaching us the basics with his in-depth knowledge and sharing his experiences. The ferrata is great for begginers, there a re two routes, one is easier for those not that confident and other a little harder but still managable. Recommend anyone new to this and would do it again for the experience.

Excellent advanced via ferrata course. I was very satisfied with the course instructor. I learned a lot of new things, not only about safety techniques and rescue procedures, but also about climbing techniques for more challenging via ferratas. The course was practical, informative, and extremely useful for further improving my skills. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and build confidence on via ferratas.

Today I attended a via ferrata course with Kofler Sport and the experience was excellent. Everything was very professional, yet relaxed and enjoyable at the same time. A special thanks goes to Anita, who led the course – her explanations were clear, patient, and very informative. I felt safe and in good hands throughout the entire experience. I originally booked the Hvadnik via ferrata, but in agreement with the guide (Igor) – and based on his recommendation due to the children’s height (ages 8, 10, and 12). – we completed the Mojstrana via ferrata. The guide was highly professional, knowledgeable, and patient, and safety was maintained at a very high level. The children had a great time. Highly recommended – Kofler Sport is excellent! We’ll definitely be back this summer to try the Hvadnik route!

Last year, in May, I attended an advanced via ferrata course with mountain guide Gregor Kofler and another participant who was also continuing the course. After an almost sleepless night due to a birthday party the day before, I somehow managed to get up in the morning and bravely set off for the via ferrata course in Mojstrana. The day started wonderfully, first with all the necessary theoretical lessons, followed by basic belaying techniques, and then we headed to the Jerman (Jerm’n) via ferrata in Gozd Martuljek. Grega carefully planned and positioned us at a safe distance from each other, with me in the middle. We started slowly and thoughtfully. After climbing a few meters, the difficulty of the via ferrata began to increase, and I started feeling the first signs of pain in my arms, followed later by my legs. I thought, "It’s fine, I can handle one via ferrata; I’m not afraid of heights, I’m confident—let’s keep going." Grega was always ahead of us, watching to ensure we were doing everything safely and correctly. Suddenly, I was faced with a vertical rock face several meters high, with only a steel cable and no footholds. I grabbed the cable, braced my feet against the wall, and tried to lift myself to the next ledge where I could safely stand. My gloves began to slip, cramps and severe pain started in my arms and then in my legs, followed by my first real panic and immense fear. I turned pale as a sheet, especially when I looked down into the abyss. I immediately knew I wouldn’t be able to continue on my own. I looked at Grega and almost shouted to him that I couldn’t go on and that my arms and legs were useless. Grega instantly knew what was happening. From a distance, he could see that I was correctly and safely clipped in with the lanyard, just as we had learned during the first via ferrata course. Grega calmly reassured me without causing any panic. He pulled a rope out of his backpack and managed to get close enough to hand me the safety rope. With his help, I was able to climb to the next ledge more easily. Throughout the ordeal, he kept me calm, slowly guiding me upward, demonstrating his professionalism and vast experience as a mountain guide.
