Itinerary
Visit the Royal Palace of Versailles, home of the French Monarchy. Your private guide brings history to life as you admire the War Room, the Peace Room, Louis XV’s Council Chamber, Louis XIV’s Bedchamber, and the Bull’s Eye Antechamber. In the State Apartments, you'll hear about King Louis XIV's love for grand entertainments and the significance of each of the seven rooms. The stories come alive as you pass billiard rooms, ballrooms, and lavish areas like the Apollo Salon, where Louis XIV hosted concerts and receptions — the grand throne room is a true symbol of the decadence at this World Heritage Site. You'll also have the chance to see the Queen's Apartments, specifically the Queen's Bedchamber, whose last resident was Marie Antoinette. Throughout this part of the tour, your guide will share insights on royal etiquette, revealing surprising rules that controlled every aspect of life at the royal court, both day and night.
Admire the Royal Chapel, completed in 1710 at the end of Louis XIV’s reign. Here your guide will divulge the traditions, music, and ceremonies that took place inside the chapel. Inside, you will also receive a lesson on the Absolute Monarchy: the belief that the King was elected by God. Pay attention to the Gothic-inspired features, as well as the more traditional architectural style of European palatine chapels.
Visit the dazzling Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. This opulent gallery, adorned with 357 sparkling mirrors, was designed to reflect the power and glory of Louis XIV. Imagine the grandiose balls and royal receptions that once filled this magnificent space, where every glittering reflection echoes the splendor of the Sun King's reign. As you stroll through, let the shimmering light transport you to a time of unparalleled elegance and majesty. Our guide will help you to feel the history and grandeur that still linger in these resplendent walls.
Finally, you’ll end your visit with some fresh air in the ornate gardens of Versailles. The 173-acre (70-hectare) grounds are vast, and unsurprisingly, it is easy to get lost in the labyrinth of lush garden delights, packed with hidden treasures that your guide points out as you stroll along the well-maintained paths. When the gardens were designed, each grove, fountain and statue was designed using Roman mythology. During your visit, you will also see the orangery (orangerie), filled with some 2,000 amazing orange trees from Spain, Portugal, and Italy. After your tour, head back to Paris for drop off at your hotel.

Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We had a great time!
I would HIGHLY recommend this tour!! There were 4 couples in our traveling party and finding a tour that would pick up and drop off at our hotel was difficult. Paris to Versailles/Hidden Gems worked great for us. We did a half day tour and met our tour guide Lorenzo at the palace. Lorenzo was extremely knowledgeable and you could tell he had a great passion for France’s history. He is very personable and made sure we were all doing ok because they were experiencing excessive heat at the time we visited.
Gerardo was very knowledgeable and nice!
We had a wonderful time on our tour to Versailles with Julie. She was a great guide with vast knowledge of the history behind Versailles, including little-known facts. I would highly recommend this tour and ask for Julie to be your guide.
Mila was fabulous, we just loved her. She personalized our tour to our curiosities and answered all our questions. I've been to the Versaille multiple times and learned many new things, I'd highly recommend her for any tour, she is lovely!
The Paris to Versailles Private Tour was phenomenal!! As first-time visitors to Paris who wanted to see Versailles, we found that a private, full-day driver was the best option for us. When you book The Unmissables tour, you will enjoy walking the grounds that many historical figures have walked, and you’ll have a guide who can help you understand why the palace has an important place in the history of France and the world. Max, our tour guide, was outstanding. He and the driver (I'm sorry I don't remember his name) met us at our hotel in central Paris at the pre-arranged time. The sedan was comfortable, and the driver worked his way through the narrow, congested streets of Paris with ease. The day of our tour, the temps were in the mid to high 90s F (30s C). Fortunately, the driver provided bottled water and provided an umbrella before we left the car. If they offer you the umbrella and water on a hot, sunny day, take them!! You'll be thankful you did, because you will need to walk in the open sun at some point in the tour. On our drive to Versailles, Max provided background on the palace, the town of Versailles, and held us in suspense (rightfully so) about other historic events associated with the palace. Max's knowledge of the history and inhabitants of Versailles was at the university level, and he answered our questions with the heart of a teacher. He led us through the gardens, explaining their history and the differences between French and English gardens. Inside the palace, Max used his visual aids, along with the palace's paintings and rooms, to tell us the stories of the lives and daily activities of the kings and queens who once walked its halls. To see all the places on the property, you will need to be ready and able to walk a lot. Max was very accommodating when we asked for a quick break or wanted to take pictures, and he kept us on schedule so we could see everything the tour had to offer. When we met the driver at the end of the all-day tour, he had the car’s air conditioning running, water available, and some treats waiting for us. The ride back into Paris was smooth and comfortable, and we were so glad we had chosen the Paris to Versailles Private Tour. It was well worth the money to have a private driver take us to Versailles and to have Max explain the rich history of Versailles, the gardens, and the other properties included in The Unmissables tour. If you are looking for a company that will give you the opportunity to relax on the drive between Versailles and Paris while providing a private tour guide steeped in the palace's history, then you need to book the Paris to Versailles Private Tours with Hidden Gems. You will be happy you did.
An excellent private tour for two including pickup from the hotel, a fantastic and informed tour of Versailles and a drop off under the Eiffel Tower (our choice). Jill was a fantastic guide and kept us both entertained with information both in the car on the way and then through the grounds and Palace. Due to an injury my partner was on crutches but that didn't stop anything and Jill arranged a wheelchair for the visit to the palace. Would highly recomend booking a self drive golf cart in advance to tour the grounds as well if you can.. sadly the queues were to big for us.
A driver and knowledgeable, personal guide made our Versailles trip top notch. Gerardo knew so much about French history, kings, their courts, and the build up of Versailles! He gave us fascinating info and had a great sense of humor too. Seeing the Kings’ private rooms was really special- something I’ll never forget. He took us on an in-depth tour of the grounds, fountains, Petite Palais and Marie Antoinette’s farmstead as well. I can’t emphasize enough how fantastic this private tour was! Don’t miss the opportunity to spend time seeing and learning, instead of waiting in line.
It was a perfect tour and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained so many detailed along the tour.
Great guide, knowledgeable and personable. Enjoyed every minute. A great way to see Versailles with no lines and no hassle in getting there from Paris. Highly recommend
