Description
A fascinating Venice by night tour discovering the abundant amount of secrets hidden within Venice, during which you will immerse yourself in the unreal and ancient atmosphere that pervades this beautiful city after dark. You will be lead through off the beaten track streets with your expert guide and be enlightened with ancient legends, ghost stories, unsolved enigmas, fascinating mysteries, and local hearsay about the history of the floating city. Venice is indeed known for being the most romantic of the romantic cities, but after dark, the romance factor suddenly dissolves to leave room to mystery and melancholy: Venice is a city with a long history behind it and, inevitably, that history contains a few skeletons and secrets. The city’s darker side might leave you feeling a bit shaken, if you feel more comfortable in hiding away from the many ghosts you’ll meet during this tour, you are welcome to wear your own Venetian carnival mask!

Itinerary
Ponte di Rialto
10 min
The Rialto Bridge is the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. Connecting the sestieri (districts) of San Marco and San Polo, it has been rebuilt several times since its first construction as a pontoon bridge in 1173, and is now a significant tourist attraction in the city.
Piazza San Marco
30 min
Piazza San Marco represents the very heart of Venice, where to be amazed by different historical architectonical monuments like the Basilica, named after San Marco as well, or the Renaissance buildings along the long sides of the square. But there is something more: did you know that walking in Piazza San Marco actually means to be walking the only square of Venice? The square is always beautiful, also when it is flooded by the water of the lagoon: an unusual and impressive experience for locals and tourists.
Pass by
Venice's Grand Canal (Canal Grande) is the city's main waterway, meandering in a large S-shape through the heart of the city. The canal is lined with magnificent palaces and historic buildings showcasing Venetian architecture's rich tapestry. Crossed by four bridges, including the famous Rialto Bridge, the canal is a must-see when visiting Venice.

Ghost Tour Never Happened, Still Have Not Received a Refund…Beware!
The ghost tour never happened and the company still has not refunded me my money. Beware! I would not recommend them to anyone.
Operator response
We are very sorry that your ghost tour did not take place and for the inconvenience this caused.
To clarify what happened, your booking was made through Viator at around 8:00 PM for a tour scheduled just one hour later, at 9:00 PM. Unfortunately, due to a technical communication error between Viator and our booking system, the reservation did not reach our internal system. Had the connection worked correctly, the tour would not have appeared as available, as availability had already been closed for that evening and our office was outside operating hours.
Regarding the refund, CityEyes is an independent tour operator selling experiences through the Viator marketplace. Viator manages the payment process directly, including refunds. As soon as we became aware of the situation the following morning, at 7:00 AM, we immediately approved a full refund from our side. From that point, the timing depends on Viator and the bank or credit card provider used for the payment. Refunds usually take 3 to 5 business days to appear on the customer’s statement, and we are confident that you will receive the refund within the expected timeframe.
We are sure you will understand that this was an unfortunate technical issue between systems, not a refusal to operate the tour or refund the payment. We apologize again for the disruption and hope to have the opportunity in the future to show you the level of service reflected in the thousands of 5-star experiences our guests share every year.

Absolutely stunning experience!
Alex was absolutely amazing! He was passionate about the stories he was telling and did this in an incredibly immersive way. We relived the stories right where they supposed to have happened. The legends were told in the most interesting and humourous way to lighten the mood after the darkest and most horrific stories. During the walk to the locations he sprinkled it with recent and ancient history. We learned a lot about the way locals live here as well.
This wxperience was absolutely perfect and we would redo this any time! Absolutely worth booking this with Alex!

Best Tour Guide! Ask for Manuela!
Manuela was AMAZING!! She’s a native of Venice and is from multiple generations going back hundreds of years in Venice. She knows everything about the city, tells engaging stories, historical and personal experiences and kept all of us, including our teen boys fully engaged in every way. She’s funny, animated and clearly loves her job. She also has a YouTube channel & produces videos about visiting Venice and Italy. It was exactly what we were looking for and would highly recommend this tour and Manuela! She has 7 gondoliers in her family! You don’t get more Venetian than that! She took us to her favorite gelato place, recommended non-touristy restaurants & parts of the city to visit, explained the architecture, how Venice began and it’s importance on the Silk Road, Marco Polo’s family, etc. we saw so much of the city in such a short period of time but never felt rushed. I can’t say enough!! Manuela is the best!!!

Hardly A Ghost Tour
For an ancient city, we heard remarkably few ghost stories or even creepy myths. It was more of an evening walking tour of Venice with a few (not particularly interesting stories that lacked suspense). The guide was nice enough but - after having taken ghost tours in a number of other cities - we found this one disappointing. In short, if you're looking for a real ghost tour, don't pick this tour. If you want a pleasant enough evening stroll, this works.
Operator response
Dear Elena, first of all, thanks for your review and for bringing your experience to our attention.
We’re so sorry to read that our tour did not match your expectations. We’re normally known for our exceptional attention to details and to our customers, and we regret that we missed the mark with you.
We would like to point out that our Venice Ghost Tour covers sites of the city that are usually not included in a regular Evening Walking Tour, plus, could be that you expected dark stories of crimes and deaths, while our tour offers a more mysterious and melancholic side of the city.
Anyway, we will use your feedback to make us better and to ensure the best experience to all our future guests.
We hope to welcome you in Italy again to ensure you a 5-star tour!

Venetian Perfection!
We had a fantastic experience on Venice on this tour. Our guide, Giovanna, met us at our hotel, and we agreed on a route that allowed us to see the most of Venice without seeing places we had already been. She asked about our particular interests and tailored the talk to them. She was incredibly knowledgeable and able to answer every question we asked, including some on more recent history (second World War).
As to the tour itself - we’ll, you can’t really go wrong with sightseeing Venice! It was fun to learn some of the ghost stories and superstitions, and Giovanna pointed out details I certainly would not have noticed. But the tour was much more, and I learned how the city came to be originally, and some of the very interesting things about the architecture that I had been noticing were explained.
She also very kindly provided us with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations for the rest of our visit. I would book again with Eyes of Rome in a heartbeat.
