Description
Rafting with us is unique, due to the beautiful surroundings and the unique place in Uganda. Rafting in Uganda was always thought to only be possible on the Nile. Other than on the Nile, the rapids on this river are almost continuous, and therefore we aim to stay in the inflatable raft and still have lots of fun and adrenaline. This hidden gem is located in between the highlights of Uganda (Gorilla's, safari parks, crater lakes, Chimp trekking etc.) and therefore perfect to combine with other activities in an itinerary. Our team is professional, very friendly and has international rafting experience and certificates. All safety gear is included in the price, and we will provide a safety briefing at the start. All photos, lunch, a snack and a drink at the end are also included. We will even take you for a short surprise at the side of the river, prepared by the local community. Do not wait to book this experience with us, it will be an unforgettable experience!

10/10 we'll come back again!
This experience was 10/10. Let me start by saying I was a bit scared beforehand, but there was really no need to be. It is thrilling and exciting, but the guides are extremely professional. They instruct you very well and they know the river like no one else. I felt very safe throughout the whole experience. The scenery is breathtaking, locals come and watch and welcome you, the guides can tell you all about the homebrewed jin, birds and other things you might see on the way. The rapids are thrilling but you have some easier flowing parts where you can reorganize yourself and enjoy the scenery. The only regret we have is not booking the overnight experience. We’ll be back and do it next time!
Also the service is above and beyond, the team will try to accommodate you the best they can. Help you with routes, where to go for dinner or where to stay. If you are planning to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park or Bwindi (or both), you MUST do this stop. It is especially a nice active break from driving in your car or a long game drive.
I would recommend reaching out to the team when you want to come as they know the conditions of the river (after rainy season it can be a bit stronger for example).

Fantastic rafting in Uganda!
Fantastic rafting in Uganda. We enjoyed a beautiful trip with lots of rapids and a nice team to accompany us. Even in dry summer enough water to have a real good trip.

Wonderful stay and exciting rafting!
We were among the first to stay in the new accommodations at SANA Gorilla Rafting. It’s very clean and comfy—good pillows. Sadat was very welcoming and helpful. In the morning, the rest of the team appeared with a delicious Rolex and some fresh fruit.
We took a super bumpy ride in a truck down to the river. I appreciated that Juma and the team gave us an appropriate but not overdone orientation to rafting in the inflatable kayaks. I’ve rafted plenty of times and didn’t need the beginner talk.
The rafting itself was super fun! There were plenty of rapids that were fun but not scary. Juma, John, and Akil are definitely expert rafters and I felt very safe and comfortable in their hands. They made us a homemade lunch along with fresh fruit and had everything we needed for an awesome day.
I can’t recommend this activity enough during your trip to Uganda! Excellent communication and such a friendly and talented team.

Great overnight rafting adventure
What an unforgettable two-day rafting adventure in Rukungiri! From start to finish, everything was organized to perfection and full of excitement. Our guides – Ashraf, John, and Juma – made the trip truly exceptional. Their professionalism, skill, and sense of fun created the perfect balance between adrenaline and safety. The first day was truly thrilling, packed with powerful rapids, teamwork, and pure adventure. Every rapid brought a new rush of energy, and the crew’s confidence made us feel completely at ease in the middle of the wild water. The second day slowed down a bit, allowing us to appreciate the breathtaking scenery that surrounded the river. Yet it was also the moment when the team’s professionalism truly shone. Just before reaching the finish line, we encountered a hippo in the water — an unforgettable moment that could have been risky, but the guides immediately took control of the situation. Thanks to their calmness and expertise, we safely continued over land to complete our journey.Ashraf, John, and Juma turned this trip into a flawless mix of adventure, nature, and trust. If you’re seeking a truly professional yet thrilling rafting experience in Uganda, look no further. This team is simply outstanding!

MUST DO
We chose the overnight rafting tour (1 day raft + 1 night at camp + 1 day nature raft/float) and the experience has been the best one of our whole trip.
Communication was easy and the trip was very professionally set-up. While waters were wild and exiting, we felt we were in very capable hands with the team! Arriving at our camping spots with tents & campfire & cold drinks ready was a pleasure, and floating through the community and queen Elisabeth national park the next day was a really nice change of setting - would recommend even more if you like birdwatching! Really has been one of the main highlights of our 3-week trip so far.
Tip, bring a sweater for the camp, we did spend a long time at the fire ;).

Do it!
With our teenagers aged 15 and 14 this excursion done. Really super nice and the surroundings are beautiful! The kids found this the most fun activity we did on our trip through Uganda. The team is top notch: super friendly guys, very professional, helpful, etc! Lunch on the way was delicious too! Had some contact beforehand because the kids seemed a bit exciting at first, they responded very quickly. In short: don't miss this trip when you're in Uganda!

As important as gorilla trekking to your Uganda experience
What a day! We loved our experience rafting/kayaking with the Sana team – it was thrilling, beautiful, and truly an unforgettable adventure. I'd do it all again, and I'd recommend it to anyone (local or tourist).
What I appreciated most were the personal touches. They prepared a fantastic hot lunch for us and provided fresh fruit, took care to make sure that we were all prepared for the rapids, and helped us learn about the region.

Thank you Becca for this great review! We are slightly late to answer to it, but appreciate it no less! Especially pointing out the personal touches and of course saying we are as important is the gorilla's in Uganda! <3
