Description

We created the camp to provide a quality experience with excellent service, as we want our guests to experience the adventure of Acatenango without having a bad time. Our food portions are generously sized and made with sustaining ingredients, as we know firsthand how demanding this adventure is. The camp is new and very well-designed. It's also very well-located, with a surprising view of the the protagonist of this adventure, the Fuego Volcano. Our camp is called IXCANUL, which in the Mayan language refers to the internal force of the mountain, which can erupt at any moment. Our goal is for you to fall in love with our country and make you want to come back again to create unforgettable experiences.

Experience of a lifetime with Leo

SHOUTOUT TO THE GUIDE OF THE YEAR - Leo! 😄 An absolute gem of a tour guide, and an altogether great guy. 10/10! Had an amazing experience! Everything was organized super well by Experience GT, and the hike it self is an absolute must. Insane views and a super unique and daunting experience to get up close with an active volcano. While Leo was the definitive highlight of my experience with Experience GT, I was very happy with the whole tour. The staff were all very nice and accommodating, including our nice driver Nicky, and all the gear and food provided was great. Also, their designated spot at the base camp was a banger - great views, a cool dining/chilling hut and good amenities.

Volcano hike

Had an amazing two days hiking acetenango and fuego. We even did the sunrise hike in the morning which was insane. Carlos looked out for us the full time and made sure that everyone was safe and most importantly having fun. Couldn’t recommend them enough, this was such an amazing experience and definitely a highlight of our trip. Thank you!!!

Great guides!

The guides were great and offered additional hiking supplies for what is a challenging hike. They did a great job of being informative, patient, and helpful with me and the group overall. The only issue I had was when I requested gluten-free meals; they provided me with a gf lunch for that first day along with snacks, but I did not have a dinner or breakfast packed. I had to end up eating a cup of noodles, which were not gf and saved the snacks they gave me as breakfast. Make sure to bring your own gloves and beanies; they do provide them, but my friends were still very cold during our hike and while in our cabin at base camp. Overall, this was a great experience, and we did get to see Volcán de Fuego explode quite a few times both from base camp and while we were up there.

Amazing!!!

This was hands down one of the top five experiences of my life.. we got extremely lucky with a very active fuego volcano all night, and it was beyond description.. just profound. Our tour guide Léo was awesome. Super nice, attentive, funny, and made the experience safe and fun.

Genial!!!

Magnificent!! Our tour up Acatenango was challenging but well paced, and our guide carefully watched over us the whole time. The experience was incredible, especially seeing el Fuego at base camp. We got really lucky with a highly active day and night; easily a top five life experience. Our guide and the rest of the company were nothing but amazing. I will be recommending them to friends in the future!

Greatest volcano tour

Amazing experience with the best organisation and guide. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Our guide Paolo was amazing. He would make sure everything was safe and taking care of and knew exactly when to go to Fuego. The other groups went on the hike, but ben they arrived it was cloudy. Paulo new this already and we went later. Eventually we wore the only group on Fuego and had the most spectacular views. It was awesome!!!

Hardest and bestest

Hardest thing I've ever done, but also the best thing! The guides were amazing! Friendly and very helpful. We waited to do Fuego in the morning instead of night due to weather and it was very good choice by our guide! The facilities were so-so but what do you expect up on the side of a volcano! If you are on the fence about doing it... do it!

look for other options

the cabin was fine, the route and the views incredible! but the guide Leo was a bit rude when answering questions which takes away the intention of continuing to ask things, he had a small argument with a couple of people for that very reason. Another bad point is that in the end the price of the tour to the volcano of fire is different from the one they indicate to you via WhatsApp. I would look for another agency for the tour
