Trekking to Turquoise Creek Barreal

The natural environment of Turquoise Creek is really beautiful and has great potential to enjoy an unforgettable experience. However, in my case, unfortunately the excursion was not what I expected. During the ascent, one person in the group had difficulty continuing and the guides did not know how to resolve the situation efficiently. As a result, the decision was made to bring the whole group back to a lower point, without fulfilling the promise of the booklet: to reach the creek, to have lunch up there enjoying, as a highlight of the experience. I understand that contingencies may arise, but I believe that there was a lack of planning and foresight. In my opinion, it was a logistical problem, and I was left without living the experience for which I paid.

Beautiful trekking in San Juan. It leaves from Barreal. After two hours in a van, you park at a shelter and ascend a path that borders a stream. You ascend from 3,200 meters above sea level to 4,000 meters above sea level until you reach the confluence of two streams with waters of different colors. The turquoise color of the water is magical and something to admire for a long time.

It really is something you have to do in life. The experience of being in the heart of the majestic Andes mountain range, walking, feeling like you can't get there... and suddenly you see that spectacular Turquesa Stream... all that remains is to thank life... We left for Barreal, with Cristian and Eugenia. We stayed in a very comfortable inn with the mountain range behind as a landscape. Divine Mobica. The rooms are comfortable. The next day a mountain trekking, spectacular. Cristian super experienced, a genius. Getting to turquoise stream, exciting!! Enjoy those Andean beauties. And the next day visit 2 nearby towns. Everything is excellent. Euge and Cristian, sensational in everything. This excursion is highly recommended.

We returned to San Juan with my husband and two sons aged 10 and 14 by Cristian and Posta Inca again!!! We moved to Barreal by 4x4, with beautiful scenery. The cabins where we stayed had all the comforts, spacious and incredible peace. The first afternoon we visited a boutique winery Las Tapias. On the second day we did a half-day acclimatization trek to the ravine of the Little Ball. Very good!!!! In the afternoon, a beautiful ride through Barreal. The next day we started early on the road to the turquoise stream. A long trekking, of medium difficulty... the height played a little against but when you reach the turquoise stream you forget everything! It is beautiful!!!! Christian always kept an eye on us all being okay, mostly with the little one. In the evening we head to the Pampa del Leoncito to observe the stars in the moonlight and a fire pit. I recommend Cristian and Posta Inca to do this trek and any other. Always attentive to all details, very good host and guide. Surely we will be back soon to continue with more adventures.

The Turquoise Creek and its surroundings, with the Mercedario always in sight, make up a beautiful landscape. I really enjoyed the trekking to the creek, and the previous day's activities (rafting along the Los Patos River and trekking along the Las Pelotitas Gorge). The accommodation in Barreal very good. It is my second trip with Posta Inca, and I am more than happy with the professionalism and cordiality of Cristian and his team.

We made the expedition in January 2022 with my husband and three children aged 18, 16 and 13. We camped 3 nights at 3600 and 1 at 4100mts. We do trekking in the surrounding area. On the trekking of the second day we reached a balcony and could appreciate the front range, the pre-range and the Ansilta cordon (a beauty). The third day to the Turquoise Creek and the last day to the Balcony of the Seismiles (the most demanding because they reach 5000 meters approx.). Unfortunately the sky completely clouded and we could not see the view from the balcony. Anyway the climb to the balcony is beautiful, at times surreal. Expedition requires good fitness for those over 40, teenagers have Capacity (in covers). The personal backpack is loaded in all trekking with water and what you are taking off clothes. The only thing that can bring discomfort is that it makes your height bad, but that is something you can not foresee and depends on each organism. For this reason, the expedition is organized to gradually climb giving the body the possibility to acclimate. The landscapes are unique, the photos do not reflect the vastness and depth of them. We toured extremely arid landscapes, but rivers of thaw and las vegas appear all along, as do tiny flowering plants growing among the rocks. This expedition is for those who want to live a different experience, camping totally wild, living with nature, silence, animals in the wild (families of guanacos and condors) and immense skies. Despite being in summer the cold at that point is felt, I recommend wearing clothes in the middle of winter especially for the nights, during the day the temperatures were pleasant. The guides (Paul, Fernando and Christian) were very professional and supportive, attentive to every detail and need of the group. A super unforgettable and recommended experience for adventure lovers.

A beautiful experience super recommended. Very well planned and the guides who touched us (Pablo and Fernando) first level, very attentive to all the details and passionate about what they do. The trekking was all very good with great views. It is very important to be in good physical condition to enjoy the whole stay.
