Went to the rock to experience a New York sunset. This could have been an amazing experience but was actually a horrendous experience. Firstly even though we had booked a time slot we were delayed going in and other people at another entrance were allowed in first. We ended up at the back of the queue. And I mean queue!!. There were hundreds of people pushing and shoving to get the best views with very little control by the staff. We were crammed in to maximum capacity and could hardly move. No consideration for health and safety either. People were climbing all over seats and walls to get a view. If there had been a medical emergency then there were no staff around to deal with it. It took 45 minutes to get out with people pushing into the exit line and staff not controlling the crowd. My daughter and I found it all overall a scary experience. I hope they never have a fire because they would never get people out safely. I’m sure there are quieter times but this time slot was crazy and I wouldn’t recommend it! It was also expensive for what it was
Ive been to the top before. One thing that made booking easier with Viator this time is that it's so hard to know with traffic etc. exactly when you will be there. We booked from out taxi as we were coming down 5th ave and were able to just walk right in and didn't have to deal with lines for the ticket and with not knowing if there are even times open until you get there. It's just nice to know in advance and walk in (-:
Don't bother getting the more expensive sunset tickets! I paid over $50 extra to get in the evening, only to be asked to re-schedule as soon as we got there for bad weather. As it was our final afternoon in NY, we booked the next day's morning admission. In true American fashion, they hide behind "all sales are final" and they wouldn't refund me the difference for the much cheaper morning tickets! Like what is it really going to cost them? Well, hope it's worth this negative review at least.
Top of the rock used to be a favourite place to go but not anymore! Tickets are oversold for sunset, it’s very cramped with minimal chance to get near to the edge for photos as people remain on the same place for long periods, this could be 3 or 4 people deep. So disappointed in our visit, not worth the increased price at sunset, and there are other towers where the empire state is visible that give a much better experience.
New York, you were everything we dreamed of and more! Being a first timer here, seeing the 360- degree skyline views was breathtaking, but taking it to the next level-literally-with the Skylift and The Beam made the experience unforgettable. If you're a first-timer in NYC or maybe a frequent visitor, these are absolute must-dos! I don’t know for you but for us, we will surely be back here and do this again. Definitely the highlight of our trip. A good choice to have this activity.
We were engaged here 16 years ago so returned to show our children. The views are top notch. The entrance, security, etc was all excellent. We went at 5pm on a Monday in August. There was no line, it wasn’t crowded. We enjoyed being able to walk to all the different levels and take photos. The views are incredible! I especially love the view of the Empire State Building.
If you want a real experience you have to pay more. The normal view is less beautiful than the Summit and the Empire State Building. The extra experience and the photo on the beam and on the platform that rises. But you have to pay for another ticket
A breathtaking view, see New York from virtually every angle, have a breakfast in the heights, special moments
Thank you, José Reinaldo! We're thrilled you enjoyed the breathtaking views and special moments. It's always a pleasure to share those incredible perspectives with our guests. We hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences!
It was hot and stuffy even in the outside viewing area because the glass walls don’t allow any airflow. We asked about doing the beam pictures but the cost was ridiculous and it didn’t even include the actual photo.
Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the heat and the photo pricing. We appreciate your insights and will use them to improve our services. Your comfort and satisfaction are important to us.
So based on consensus from online research; the Top of the Rock was deemed to be the best observation deck so I decided to visit it. I am originally from Toronto and love the CN tower so figured that it would be a good experience. However, this was nothing like that and rather is an overpriced tourist trap and like the rest of NYC, is all about scams. 1. Insane prices. And that is if you book for a specific time (no rainchecks if bad weather). Yet somehow there is a long line 2. Before you board you have to watch a propoganda film about JD Rockefeller. 3. The ticket just gets you to floor 67. 4. I bought a ticket for the beam exprience. I thought it would be like the CN tower edge walk, there would be a beam sticking out over the city you could sit on. With a safety net or something. It was marketed as a thrilling experience. In reality, it is a 60 second low thrill ride that doesn't go anywhere and is just a way from them to take your photo so they can sell it you at overinflated prices 5. Skyride experience same deal. A 60 second ride that takes you a bit higher, half of it they force you to pose for a photo that they can sell to you and overinflated prices And the view all honesty, isn't that great. A better elevated view for NYC is from the Roosevelt Island Tram (a cable car despite its name), especially at night. Or from The Statue of Liberty Pedestal. Otherwise, see it from the ground
