Tolantongo Private Tour + Pastes + One Day at the Hot Springs

We had the best day touring Tolantongo. Richard was phenomenal and we’d recommend this private tour to anyone.

Amazing place and worth the visit, if it hadn't been ruined by the driver. The driver showed up on time and the journey is 4hrs from Mex. City. The route includes an enormous amount of speed breakers in the middle of fast roads and also winding roads. This made the whole journey feel like a roller coaster because of his driving. We had to stop the car twice as one person was incredibly motion sick. This start stop went on for 2hours. The driver (called himself Richard) would drive at high speed (100kmh) and then suddenly break at a speed breaker. According to Viator, we were supposed to be given snacks and a head lamp. We didnt have these. I had also informed Nenemi tours that we have a speciali dietary requirements which was acknowledged. They did nothing with the snacks. The plastic bags were dirty and sticky - no sense of cleanliness or hygiene. The tour operator also started provided terms and conditions of their tour when I accidentally left something in the car. Should all Terms and conditions not be shared BEFORE the tour and not after?

Tolantongo is a really amazing experience. The pools and view are wonderful and the caves are such a fun and interesting section that I was not expecting and really enjoyed. Our driver was really kind and everyone was so nice it made the trip worth the drive.

We booked this experience for our family of 4 directly through Viator but the only options online were for 2 people. They had us book two separate bookings for a private tour. You would think for 4 people there would be an adequate car supplied however the car that showed up was a compact car for our family of 4. It was very uncomfortable for a 8-9 hour roundtrip ride. Our driver Daniel was incredible though and completely not his fault that they sent him for this specific group since his car would have been fine for two people. The tour itself was really nice. The pools and cave/tunnel were a lot of fun and the kids loved it too.

Great hosts. We had an awesome time exploring and swimming at our own pace. Highly recommend.

The good: Our driver Jorge was awesome. He arrived promptly at our 4 a.m. Pickup and was very informative. Because we are bilingual we just spoke Spanish but the overall trip was great! We were able to sleep for the short 3 hr. Car ride there and back and stopped for food and bathroom breaks which was needed. The tour provided us with instructions prior to the trip in them it was great information to make the most of the trip. The not so good: The drive was a bit long and time consuming. The tour company provided nothing other than the driver and vehicle. The instructions said the tour would include a cell phone bag, a waterproof flashlight, solar protection and something to weather the morning breeze. Bottom line none of this was provided! Overall I would definitely do it again! The trip was great and I highly recommend doing it.

Although the tour was very far it was a very nice experience. Our tour was private, our guide was Richard, he offered to stop if restroom was necessary. The only thing we didn’t get was a bag for our wet clothes, luckily we had packed one. The description did not indicate to bring a towel so knowing would have been helpful, once close to the site it’s possible to buy one if needed. We also did not get a sleeping blanket, but our car did have pillows which was nice given the long ride.

Such a great experience! The tour was very well organized and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. You can really tell they care about their guests and want everyone to have a great time. They shared interesting information throughout the tour and made the whole experience both fun and memorable. It didn’t feel rushed, and they were always happy to answer questions and make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. I would definitely recommend this private tour to anyone looking for a fun, well-organized, and memorable tour. I would absolutely book with them again!
