Boldt Castle on Heart Island is located near Alexandria Bay, NY in the famed 1000 Islands Region. Whether you are making an annual visit to see what’s new, looking for an affordable family vacation close to home or a couple seeking that romantic getaway, Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House has something for you! In fact, the Castles’ legendary beauty nestled among the St Lawrence Rivers’ 1000 Islands will keep you returning year after year! The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) welcomes you to tour Boldt Castle to explore and experience an attraction like no other. Construction began on Boldt Castle in 1900 at the bidding of millionaire hotel magnate George C. Boldt as a tribute to his beloved wife Louise. Boldt Castle was designed as their summer dream home. A castle rivaling those of Europe, built on the St. Lawrence River, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. However it was not to be, Mrs. Boldt passed away suddenly just months before the completion of the castle. Mr. Boldt was inconsolable and immediately stopped all construction on Heart Island, leaving the property vacant for over seventy years… The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA), who owns and operates Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House, invite you to explore our website. Here you can glimpse what awaits you at Heart Island. A chance to experience the Boldt’s tragic love story and the magnificence of a bygone era…
Stop at Rock Island Lighthouse State Park where visitors can climb to the top of the Lighthouse, walk the island, and visit the keepers cottage which is a museum and gift shop.

The guide Dennis and Captain CT were great tour guides and hosts on this trip! It was so interesting and informational. We only wished we had more time to explore the Castle. 😊 but as Dennis said 1.5 hours is too long for some and not long enough for others.
Excellent way to spend the afternoon. Guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Lunch and stops at Rock Island lighthouse and Boldt Castle made it a great value for the money. We had a relaxing and fun day.
Capt Matt and Brad were great. A fun and lovely day. Brad was informative and made stories feel connected.
A 100% recommend to visit. Everything was amazing. Captain very experienced. Guide Denis incredible and knowledgeable man. Lunch was included which is a plus. Tour started on time. Boat was nice. 5 hours flew. During all thitime Denis ( sorry if I misspelled name) explained everything, it was very interesting. Actual Boldt castle is great, very beautiful, rock island with a lighthouse and a guide was very informative also there was a treasure hunt for kids, with a goody bag. Overall it was a great experience. We spent a great time. Thank you.
Fabulous trip! I take this tour every time I am in the area. The captain and our guide were top notch!
The "Ultimate Heart of 1000 Islands Sightseeing Boat Tour" was FANTASTIC!! Our tour guides Dennis and Matt were outstanding, fun, and shared infinite information about the area during our 5 hour long tour. The boat was comfortable, breezy, and safe. There was so much to see on this adventure and we learned a lot, including about many of the homes and properties we saw along our course. Dennis is very knowledgeable about the area and enjoys sharing all of the history and fun facts. We cruised for over an hour down the river, often going slow so we could take in the scenery. This tour came with a bag lunch of a sandwich (or salad), chips, cookie and drink and it was delicious and plentiful. It was great to enjoy our lunch on board at our leisure before our first stop. Our first stop was Boldt Castle to tour the home and grounds, which were breathtaking. We could have spent 8 hours just touring that spot! We did not see it all with the 1 1/2 hours we were on shore but that's ok, we hope to return for a longer tour sometime as the castle is a must see stop. On the return trip, we stopped at Rock Island Lighthouse and climbed to the top where we learned about the lighthouse from an expert who is clearly passionate and enjoys his job. We had fun walking the small island, relaxing by the water, and grabbing an ice cream snack in the gift shop. Exceptional weather helped make this day absolutely perfect and we highly recommend this tour with Clayton Island Tours!! Thank you Dennis and Matt for a wonderful day!
We had an amazing time on our tour! Our tour guide was very informative, and friendly. The tour provided packed lunches which was perfect for our day. Our lunches were delicious and enough for the 5 hour day.
A wonderful family friendly experience, 100% plan on going again.
Beautiful day on the water, very informative guide giving interesting details about different cottages. Boldt castle ground landscaping is amazing. Castle history very interesting. Lighthouse stop was a great addition to the day.
We were given much interesting information and history about the Islands. Our tour guide was friendly and professional. The bagged lunch was good and we were contacted to make a choice of salads or sandwiches, chips, plus a large cookie. The captain answer any and all questions.
