The StrummerWalk

Great 2 hour tour of “the Grove” not only visiting locations of some famous Clash photos but places they lived and locations of legendary shows but the history, grit and feel for this part of London as it was back in that day. Tour guide Aidan grew up here and gave us a fascinating description of the squatting culture that Joe lived in. We visited the pubs Joe and the 101’ers played in and the squat they lived and rehearsed in. Great stories of those days, the Notting Hill Carnival riots that inspired “White Riot” walking under the Westway highway from “Londons Burning.” NO fan of Joe or the Clash should miss this tour!!!

This is a fantastic tour around the birthplace of the Clash. Squatters life, cultural oppression, racial tensions, police harassment, rough pubs, social enterprise and much, much more. Told by a true local, Aidan lived through the times and knows many of the characters behind the stories. His tour is well illustrated through pictures on his iPad and his references to books, films and above all links to rare live recordings of the Clash and the 101ers. There is a reasonable amount of walking, though it's pretty flat pavements and at 3 hours is incredible value.

Really interesting guided tour through 70’s-80’s West London. Music, punk, venues used , social unrest of the time, squatting culture, provided a glimpse into another place, another time . Aidan very knowledgeable, lived it , locally brought up. Fascinating insights , well worth it.

Thanks for a great tour! It was really interesting, both for those who are well-versed Strummer and Clash-fans (such as the birthday kid) and for novices. It gives you great insight about how life in the neighbourhood has been and about the people there. And what a music scene! Aidan is an engaged, well informed, generous and cool guide with lots of stories to tell, who gave us a walk well over 2 hrs. We would love to take one of his other tours the next time we are in London.

Aiden is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Having been there at the time, the info is from the horses mouth, so to speak. Can highly recommend for any Clash/Strummer fan.

Simply amazing! I loved this tour, i felt I was there in the 70s witnessing the beginning of the punk movement in London. Aiden is a great guide, not only he will tell you about Strummer and the clash, but also he will make you understand the historical context. It's a rock and sociology tour. I loved it

Aidan was a fantastic guide! He lived here and grew up in the neighborhood with the members of the clash. He’s a great story teller and reallly personable and engaging. Loved it!

Aidan knows a lot about music, the Clash and Joe Strummer life, apart from the local scene and history of those neighborhoods. He offers a complete story from an insider point of view. Absolutly recommended, a shame I couldn't take the other tours. Also, I would say it is the only tour that refers in depth to The Clash, so for band fans, don't miss it!

Aidan is an absolute joy as a mate and tour guide! He brought a true depth of music and pop history knowledge to his narration of Joe Strummer and the Clash’s beginnings, success and dissolution. His multi-media presentation and personal stories helped to make the over 2 hour tour feel both too brief and also complete. My only regret is my visit to London is over, and I will have to wait until I return for his other tours!

Taking the Strummer-Walk with Aidan was a lot of fun. Lots of interesting historic facts and anecdotes. The next time I'm in London, I'll definitely book one of the other tours Aidan has to offer.
