Harrowing tales

Our guide Katrina was outstanding. She made the harrowing experience of crossing the Atlantic in the mid-19th century come alive. Anyone with ancestors who emigrated to North America to escape the famine should take this tour for a better appreciation of what that generation endured.

Worth the visit

Our guide Steve provided an incredible overview of the struggles the poor had leaving Ireland during the Great Hunger. Walking through the Jeanie Johnston brought the experience to life and was worth the visit.

Miracle ship

Taking the tour of the Jeanie Johnston was easily one of the highlights of my time in Dublin. It took almost an hour. The Great Famine is undoubtedly a heavy subject, but this tour balances that gravity with a truly remarkable, uplifting story. Learning about the ship's owners and crew—whose genuine care and humanity ensured not a single life was lost on board—was deeply inspiring. Our guide, Gary, was fantastic. He was informative, engaging, and brought the history to life with great care and depth. I left feeling so glad I took the time to do this tour. Don't skip it!

Not to be missed!

An absolute must do. Such a compelling story told with eloquence, compassion, humour, and Irish heart, by our tour guide Katrina.

Great tour back in time

Interesting tour. Great tour guide (Gary) West Ham supporter but we will forgive that. Tells the story of hope on this fabulous ship. Well worth a visit for an hour operate the Epic and near the famine memorial.

Fascinating

Really enjoyed the guided tour of the Jeannie Johnston and was perfect to do after the EPIC where we had heard about the "coffin ships". The tour guide Gary was really knowledgeable and engaging and he was happy to answer our questions. Seeing inside the boat and the conditions that people would have endured was fascinating especially given those who boarded the Jeannie Johnston were actually the "lucky ones"! Would recommend a trip aboard.

Interesting tour

A very interesting and entertaining tour. Found out lots about the history of the great hunger and also the ship and how it compared to coffin ships. Fascinating. Outstanding guide - very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. Highly recommended - thanks

A fascinating insight into Irish hisory.

This is a fascinating and accessible way to learn about one of the darkest episodes in Irish history - the great famine. Our guide Gary brought the almost unbelievable story of this ship to life, and was happy and able to answer any and all questions from the visitors onboard. My only complaint was that the hour simply flew by, and there wasn't much time to explore the displays in the ships hold.
