This has been the most charming experience I’ve had yet. The musicians were amazing, especially the woman playing the Đàn Tranh (I think that was the instrument), she did a solo performance at the beginning which was beautiful. The puppeteers were amazing, they conveyed so much through the puppets. I may not have understood the dialogue but I don’t think you need to to enjoy this show. A real highlight of Hanoi for me.

The show was fun, the puppetry is very cool even if we couldn't quite follow all of the stories (it is lots of small fables rather than one continuous story). However, getting in was an issue. We booked "skip the line" tickets through Agoda but when we arrived (15 mins early as per the email) there was no-one to give us a ticket and a long queue to buy a new ticket. The show had already sold out for multiple days by this point. Eventually someone came out to take names but there were so many of us from Agoda, Viagogo, etc that they did not have anywhere near enough tickets and the show began before anyone got in. I was one of the lucky few to only miss ~10 mins of the show, others were turned away for different shows, some on different days. Very stressful experience and really coloured our enjoyment of the evening. I would recommend to only buy paper tickets via the box office well in advance of the show. Definitely avoid any skip the queue tickets as you will likely have to skip the show.
