Built by Emperor Shahjahan for his wife Empress Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal strikes awe and inspires humility in the eyes of the onlookers by its sheer majesty. It speaks volumes on the eternal love story of Shahjahan and Mumtaz Mahal. It took twenty two years to build the mausoleum. Further on, you will visit the Red fort.
Earlier known as Badalgarh, Red fort brims with bustling stories of its local rulers, sultans, Mughals and the british. It has alluring palaces and extensive gardens. The fort also has a tomb of John Russel Cornlis. Highlights of Red Fort are like Diwane- E Aaam, Diwane- EeKhhas, KhasMahal, Anguri Bag. After Red Fort visit, you have your lunch or it can be scheduled accordingly. Then we drive back to Jaipur and enroute visit Fatehpursikri.
Fatehpursikri was capital of Mughal emperor Akbar The great for 13 years. It is also called the ghost city. Later on it was abandoned because of water crisis and capital was shifted back to Agra. Do visit here Jama Mosque and Asia’s biggest victory gate. This is another world heritage site recognised by UNESCO near Agra.
