Table Mountain Private Hike Tour of Kasteelpoort Route from Cape Town

We returned on the way of the reservoirs to encounter a clear view on the other side, from the Constantia vineyards all the way to Cape View and Cape of Good Hope

Monique Bermeister of Mother City Hikers led us on an exceptional hiking experience on Table Mountain. Monique was simply outstanding. Words hardly do her justice. She arrived fully equipped for us, with a daypack, hiking poles, a light jacket, snacks, and of course water. Although we were well prepared and did not need most of it, this level of thoughtfulness was truly impressive and reflects both professionalism and genuine care for her clients. During the tour, we discovered an exceptional guide with extensive knowledge, fascinating conversation, and endless personal charm. Monique also tailored the route and explanations perfectly to our preferences. Until we met her, we had no idea that some guides specialize so deeply in hiking, but it was immediately clear that the trails and mountains run in her veins. We truly felt fortunate to have her guiding us. She receives a 5-star rating not because that is enough, but simply because there is no option for 7 stars.

Hiking Table Mountain was supposed to be a birthday present to me after a long flight from Seattle. We arrived in a storm, so on the suggestion of our trip coordinator, the hike up the Kasteelspoort trail was moved a couple of days to a clearer weather window. My guide Monique is an experienced guide and quickly assessed my skill level as well as gear for the day as the weather quickly changed to a cool and breezy. Monique had a beanie and a poncho ready to use if the weather changed; that beanie was needed! She pointed out flora and fauna, local birds, and the unique views of Table Bay, False Bay, and the Twelve Apostle mountain face. With 90 minutes to the top, Monique had snacks and warm Roobios tea and a mug ready, and found us a little shelter from the wind to enjoy it. I recognized that without her experience, I might have been more like the hikers we encountered who were cold and unprepared for the hiking conditions, which included water-logged trails that were dry just two weeks before. Her trained eye spotted a set of pawprints from an animal she later identified as a mongoose. As there were a few points where a person with shorter leg length might need a hand or a haul up, Monique was patient to allow me and my 59 y.o. body first crack at finding my way up rocky paths, making me feel right at home with the mountains I'm accustomed to. All and all, I had a lovely, safe hike on the world's oldest mountain and had plenty of time to take in the views. Climbing time was about 4 hours, about what I thought it would be. Monique texted my spouse so he could better coordinate meeting us up at the top via cable car, coordinate her pick up of her vehicle to pick us up at the bottom, and transported us to a funky place for lunch as the end of our experience.

Absolutely fantastic experience climbing Lions Head with Yvette. Every need was anticipated, and the pace was perfect. Yvette explained the local flora, fauna, and history of the area. Very knowledgable, fun, and thoughtful. Would recommend to any curious hikers. Rooibos tea and Rusk at the summit was lovely.

We had the most incredible experience hiking Table Mountain—truly one of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town. Our guide, Yvette, was exceptional. She was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing insights about the landscape, history, and unique ecology of Table Mountain that made the hike so much more meaningful. What really stood out was her passion and energy. Yvette clearly loves what she does, and it made the entire experience feel special and engaging from start to finish. She was also so friendly and accommodating, adjusting the pace perfectly to suit my husband and me, and making sure we felt comfortable and confident along the way. The views were absolutely breathtaking, but it was Yvette who made the day unforgettable. The whole experience felt personal, seamless, and thoughtfully curated. We left feeling proud, inspired, and so grateful for such a memorable adventure. Highly recommend hiking Table Mountain with Yvette—it doesn’t get better than this.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful hike with excellent tour guides who really look after you. I learned so much more about nature, the amazing South African geology and wildlife as well. I want to come back again!!

Johan and Lauen picked us up on time early in the morning. On the way they talked us through what to expect on Table Mountain and some of the trail options we had. We chose one of the easier ones, a really scenic route up Kasteelspoort and the Kitchen Ravine, via the water reservoirs and from there to the cable car station on top of the mountain. Johan, our guide, made the hike very special. He had an incredible knowledge of the mountain and its vegetation, wildlife and the dam construction history that he shared with us in a very pleasant way. The weather was perfect for mountain hiking with sunny sky and mist that came and went throughout the day. Overall, the day was a great experience.

Lauren took 3 of us on a hike up table mountain despite us been novices . We were collected and provided with equipment if we wanted and was returned to hotel once finished . Lauren was truly outstanding, guided hike was one of my highlights in life . She was patient and interesting along the way and helped take an amazing set of pictures. Thank you Lauren

Hike was absolutely wonderful! Started promptly at 5 am. We originally had 2 couples scheduled to go, and one couple had to back up and she didn't even blink an eye. Lauren asked us a few questions to determine what type of hike would be best for us. That was so appreciated as we had picked a hike that would not have been a good fit for our skill set. Lauren was very conscientious, making sure our walk was safe, we were feeling good, asking questions about our trip. She was very knowledgeable about all the plants and animals and rock formations. I don't think there was one single question she wasn't able to answer! She knew exactly where the great locations were for photo opportunities and was quick to offer to take photos for us. We had a snack and a break before heading back down. For not living her entire life in South Africa/CapeTown, Lauren as the best! I would recommend her to anyone wanting to hike TableTop.
