Photo Stop: Drakenstein Prison. In 1982 Mandela was transferred from the maximum security prison on Robben Island, a small island in Table Bay, to Pollsmoor Prison in Tokai, Cape Town. From there, Mandela was moved to the then Victor Verster Prison on 9 December 1988, where he lived in a private house inside the prison compound. Victor Verster, a farm prison, was often used as a stepping stone for releasing lower-risk political prisoners. Mandela served another 14 months at Victor Verster (Now called Drakenstein) Prison until his release on 11 February 1990. On the day of his release, reporters from all over the world surrounded the prison, giving the prison worldwide publicity.

Beautiful experience enriched by the super funny and very nice guide, Peter! He made the whole tour something more than just wandering through the amazing winelands outside the city. No doubts, just book it and you won't regret it
Well run tour with excellent guidance, commentary and jokes from Derrick. Relaxed day with plenty of time time see the wineries. Quality bus and professional driver.
Derrick was the best! Very professional and entertaining!
Very complete experience in terms of wine tasting. You get a more in depth visit at the first winery and then just tastings at the other two, but nice scenery. Guide was knowledgeable and nice. Bus A/C did not work properly for some part of the day and it was very warm inside… but other than that a very good experience. Would recommend!
Derick was a great guide throughout, very warm character and extremely knowledgeable insight on not only the farms visited but South African history in general. Tandu was a great driver keeping us on schedule and safely transporting us from farm to farm.
Very good experience, different kind of tastes and many information about wine and south Africa
Value and tour guide (Derrick) was great. Meeting pickup wasn’t clear enough. Upon pickup location selection, wish there was also a time listed on selection.
Derek was the best and made this day unforgettable. He was so kind to write down his own tipps for us to make our stay even more beautiful. Thank you
Amazing experience! Totally worth it!
Derrick was awesome. He taught us a lot about the history of wine making and other historical events. Thando (driver) drove well. felt safe all the time.
