This was a wonderful experience. Daniel was a very knowledgeable young man and very engaging! We highly recommend his services.
As a Guide, Daniel was very friendly, and was considerate of our walking pace . He sorted the rail tickets for those who needed them, and even assisted with coins for WC visits and provided us a bite to eat at lunchtime. The basis of the tour was really to take us to what is effectively a Tourist Souvenir Village. While there were some Artisans based there, few were open to the public. Too much time was spent in "preferred" shops, limiting the amount of "Free Time", but then there wasn't that much to see. Knowing what I know now we could have just caught the train there ourselves. which would have been a lot cheaper, and given us control of how much time we spent there. Would I recommend the tour? Although we did see a little of Hungary outside Budapest, I would say no.
Hello, We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy our tour, which is currently the #1-rated tour in the region. As you signed up for a guided activity, free time is naturally limited, but there is always one full hour of free time, which in our experience is enough for some shopping and exploring. We’ve run and tested this tour thousands of times, with an extremely high level of guest satisfaction. I also have to disagree with the claim that we take guests to “preferred” shops. We have no partnerships or commission-based arrangements with any of the places we visit. We choose them because they have genuine cultural or historical value. For example, the Marzipan Shop is one of the most famous in Hungary, the Paprika Shop is where we talk about Hungarian gastronomy, and the lángos shop is where we invite you to try a traditional Hungarian street food—the food is on us. Beyond these, we don’t stop at shops at all. The tour focuses mainly on churches, historic buildings, monuments and viewpoints. Of course, Szentendre is a popular tourist destination, so there are tourist shops around, and that is simply unavoidable. But the town also has more than 50 art and craft shops, as well as the heritage of four religions and several ethnic communities that have lived here over the centuries. If you felt there wasn’t enough to see or do during the free time, it may simply be that Szentendre and the Artists’ Village weren’t quite what you were looking for. We understand that different travellers have different expectations, but the tour is designed primarily around the town’s cultural and historical heritage rather than shopping or particular shops.
It was a nice day out of Budapest to visit a unique artisan village on the train. Our guide Daniel told us about the unique history of this place. There are lots of nice shops and cafes to browse around.
Rudy was very well informed and we learned a lot. Such a fun and interesting day. We enjoyed it very much. Thanks Rudy !
Really enjoyed our day with Rudy. He was fun and knowledgeable. Was bigger than expected, a cute visit. Would recommend!!
Lots of great authentic souvenirs in little locally owned shops in a charming village. Langos were fantastic. Daniel gave us some history of the area and buildings and did a nice job. It was a welcomed leisurely pace after many busy days.
Rudy was so knowledgeable, helpful and informative. We loved learning about the history of Hungary. We lucked out that it was just us, so we jumped into a bunch of different conversations that were fun and informative. Szentendre was beautiful, it was nice to be able to be close to the Danube, get the history of the area and try some different food. The shopping, history and art were amazing. If you’re in Budapest and want a quick day out of the city be sure to contact Rudy to arrange your tour.
Our experience was great. Rudy is so knowledgeable with history and happy to share all kinds of interesting information. And the town is quaint and adorable.
Szentendre is a very pretty village worth a visit . Our guide, Daniel picked us up at the train station. We were a small group of 6 which was perfect . Daniel told us he was fairly new to guiding but he did a great job and took good care of us . All in all a great and informative day trip .
Rudy took us through a wonderful visit to the artisan community Szentendre. We traveled by train and truly enjoyed the passing scenery and many.shops.
