We will wander through picturesque alleyways and discover the flavors and culinary secrets of Syros. From the first goods that arrived to supply the island to the present-day gastronomic identity of Syros, we will connect the past with the present through a unique walk filled with tastes and history. The lively atmosphere and beautiful architecture of the island will transport you to another era, while we enjoy the amazing view of the sea surrounding the town. We will visit both new and traditional shops like grocery stores, general stores, fish markets, butcher shops, and bakeries, to get to know and taste the raw ingredients that make up the exceptional cuisine of Syros. And of course, we won’t miss a visit to the very first wine and spirits cellar in Greece, with a rich history in distillation. We will pass by some of the island’s historic buildings and end our walk in a carefully selected location that reflects the local cuisine of the past.

A lovely informative tour. We tasted some traditional food that we had not discovered before and went into amazing shops that we would not have found. Marion was informative and happy to answer questions Our only annoyance was that we were informed of a time change on the morning of the tour after having arranged a taxi etc
It’s such a good idea to do such a tour for the insightful it gives you. Marion was such a good guide. She took us into a half dozen establishments which we would have otherwise walked past. The free sampling of local produce was generous and so lovely, and Marion has such a background knowledge which gave us detailed explanation in a warm and friendly way. Such an essential experience and totally recommended

This event was described as a "good weather event". We did not attend this event as it was pouring in Chroussa, where we were staying and when we went into town at 11am it was raining as well, there were puddles on the sidewalks and all of the streets, everyone was carrying umbrellas. One of our attendees had mobility issues - wet steps, sidewalks and floors would have been treacherous for her. This event was originally described as a good weather event, it was not a good weather day. We contacted the tour operator and Viator and neither have responded to my requests for a refund. Can we ask to please have a refund for this event?
Ria was fabulous! She gave us a wonderful snapshot of history and food. Our group of 4 women had a fabulous time. The food we tasted was excellent. We loved the old style grocery store she showed us. We would go again with Ria anytime!

Really enjoyed our guide. She was very knowledgeable about the food scene and also showed us the major sites. We toured a wide variety of food stops from a local grocery store to bakery to coffee shop in the courthouse. Also the best gelato!
