Don’t miss this excursion from Nafplio
This was one of the highlights on our trip! Mira is a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable on the region and small village. We learned to cook a traditional Greek meal, share stories and enjoy our lunch. The ladies of the village showed much hospitality and shared their cooking skills with us. This tour takes place in a mountain village- about 45 minutes from Nafplio. It was well worth the beautiful drive for our experience. Next time I am in Greece I will look into more tours with this company. I love to learn the local culture when I travel.

A taste of Greek village life so authentic, you'll believe you have a Greek grandmother
GrecoPaths didn't take us to Greece — they took us into it. This is the kind of experience that reminds you why you travel in the first place.
Mira, our guide, brought us to Kaira, Greece. We were staying in Nafplio and given a Maps link to this village. We plugged it in and found ourselves in a tucked-away village that feels genuinely untouched by the tourist trail. The place carries a quiet magic — partly the scenery, partly the pace of life, but largely (we'd learn) the water. Kaira sits on a natural spring, and locals and visitors alike make pilgrimages here just to fill bottles from it.
We started the experience in a small village restaurant, one of two, learning to make stuffed vegetables and then tzatziki lesson was our kid's favorite part; we've already made it at home since we've been back. The chef didn't measure a thing, and we learned what 'just a little bit of olive oil' really means in Greece, quite a bit.
Then came the moment that will stay with me longest. We walked through the village to a grandmother's home — her actual home, not a staged replica of one — to make cheese pie on her back porch. Her wood-burning oven is one of the few in town. She worked the dough and the filling with the casual efficiency of someone who has made this pie hundreds of times. We helped, humbly, and she was patient with our clumsy hands. When the pie prep was finished, after our small hike to the water aqueduct, our lunch that we helped make was finished and we dined all together and the sweet grandmother walked the finished cheese pie to us.
If you're looking for a true local experience, this was it!

Dearest Lindsay,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful 5-star review! 🌟
It truly warms our hearts to read how deeply you connected with Kaira, the natural spring, the cooking lessons, and especially the unforgettable moment with the grandmother in her home. Knowing that you’re still making tzatziki at home with your kids makes us smile every time.
This is exactly the kind of authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience we strive to offer. Thank you for letting us be part of your family’s Greek adventure and for sharing your story so beautifully.
We hope our paths cross again soon!
Warm regards,
Stavroula

A very good taste of mountain village life in the Peloponnese!
Our 3-generation family of three — 85 year-old, 60-year-old, 25-year old—had a great time at this cooking class in a small mountain village. If you’re an experienced cook don’t expect to learn anything new, but that won’t stop you from having fun while making good dishes with women who have been cooking them all their lives. Our guide Mira was truly top-notch and helped ensure a top-notch experience for all of us.

Fabulous cooking class and trip to the mountain village!
Wonderful day with guide Mira and the rest of the GrecoPaths group! We (my family) were driven by Mira up to a mountain village and enjoyed meeting other members of the GrecoPaths staff, including Stavroula. We spent a little time with them, and then the first chef instructed us on making stuffed vegetables and tzatziki in the kitchen of a small taverna. Atfer that, we walked over to a local woman's home where she and her sister helped us make a cheese tiropita. We learned about using local ingredients, sampled local herbal mountain tea, took a walk in the woods above the village to see the views, and at the end, we enjoyed a fantastic lunch including what we had made and a variety of other dishes including grilled lamb chops. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, as well as informative. Very glad we decided to include this day in our trip!
(Note that transportation is a separate charge, but we found it was well worth it.)

Slow Life in the Mountains
The hour we spent in Karia with an older couple chatting with them about their life, family, village, etc. over coffee and spoon sweets on their porch in the rain was terrific. Made us want to learn the art of spoon sweets when we arrived back home. Lunch in a local tavern on the village square, the preparation in which we participated, was a tasty departure from our other experiences. Thank you Stavroula and your terrific team!

Nafplio mountain village cooking experience
High quality, unique, personalized and authentic experience for our two families with adults and 5 kids. We were welcomed personally by the owner and our guide and every detail was delivered with care including several surprises as we visited over the New Year’s Holiday.
We did the traditional cooking class in a small mountain village of about 80 residents. The views were incredible and we got to cook in the actual kitchen of a small restaurant. In addition to sampling the fresh mountain water, we drank tea from mountain herbs with local honey and then conducted our cooking class experience. After preparing several dishes and leaving them to bake, we walked to another family’s home/farm. There we prepared another dish in their backyard and it was cooked in a traditional outdoor brick oven that was 200+ years old. The hospitality of the local families was fantastic and our families enjoyed this tour “off the beaten path” of the crowded tourist destinations so much.
Our guides were also top notch. It’s worth it - book with Greco Paths!

Unique and incredible time experiencing Greece with Grecopaths
My family and I had a wonderful time with each of the experiences Stavroula and her fabulous team arranged for us on our recent trip to Napflio and Spetses. A cooking class in the village, boat trips, mythological treasure hunt for our young children, horseback riding, pottery class, truffle hunting, dinner with music and dancing at a farm, and terrific tours of the archeological sites. Everything was arranged so thoughtfully to provide an authentic and unique experience. We cannot recommend Grecopaths strongly enough for a truly wonderful trip to Greece.

A perfect way to spend a day in Greece
What an incredible way to get to know a culture! My daughter and I loved spending time with these women and learning how to make some Greek dishes. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging and accommodating. We are so glad we chose this tour.
