This was such a special experience. Tucked away in a quiet corner in Kyoto, there is the most beautiful establishment. We had the privilege of having the lesson to ourselves, and were well taken care of. It was an honor to be taught the history and technique of sushi making.
We attended the sushi-making course on October 31st, and it was absolutely wonderful. The sushi master, who has more than 40 years of experience, shared his incredible knowledge with so much passion and professionalism. Under his guidance — and with the kind support of his two assistants — we were able to make our own sushi step by step. The interpreters did an excellent job translating everything, so we could easily follow along and truly understand the techniques behind every detail. The atmosphere was calm, traditional, and full of respect for the art of sushi. It was fascinating to see how precise every movement was and to experience firsthand how much skill and care goes into making perfect sushi. Of course, tasting our own creations at the end was the highlight — everything was delicious! This was truly a special and authentic experience that we will never forget. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants to learn from a real sushi master.
Very informative and delicious afternoon learning the history of sushi and learning to make our own. We were dressed in Chef coat and hat. The chef spoke Japanese and he had 2 English translators who were great. Very fun and enjoyable afternoon.
Incredible Experience!! Sushi Chef was very knowledgeable and happy to share his expertise. Ene was a great host and made everyone feel welcome. This sushi making class is a must do in Kyoto! Come hungry, we made many pieces of sushi!
We learned SO much about the history of sushi and of Japan, as well as how to make sushi itself! This was the highlight of our time in Kyoto!
Do not miss this experience! We learned SO much, and the sushi is incredible! The location is perfect also! I now know a ton about sushi history!
My friend and I enjoyed this experience very much. The staff and sushi chef were very helpful and accommodating. We learned not just hot to make sushi, but also the rich history of nigiri sushi. They also taught us some kanji, which was also fun. I would definitely recommend to those interested in Japanese food, culture, and sushi 😄
It was amazing, really interesting history and incredible teachers. My wife and I had a great time making nigiri, maki, and gunka maki. Really special day and would 100% recommended to a friend. Thank you so much!
It was my first time to experience sushi and I really enjoyed listening to the detailed explanation, history, etc. Sushi was also delicious ^_^
