Learn how to surf with Tamarindo’s #1 Surf School since 1989. All skill levels welcome. We are located directly in front of a beach break and we are Tamarindo’s original surf shop! We are highly experience, having taught over 100,000 surf lessons in the 30 years we have been operating. All of our staff members are friendly, bilingual and very experienced professionals. Over half of our staff has been with us for over 10 years! We cater specifically to each and every customer’s needs and it is our goal to have every customer leave 100% satisfied and we put a huge emphasis on safety. We are a fully insured company with properly trained instructors in water and surf safety, CPR and First Aid.

A week at the Iguana surf camp was not enough; I wish I could stay forever! Everyone was kind, welcoming, and friendly. Edwing was a phenomenal instructor. He was patient, gave thought tips and advice, and was a consistent source of energy and encouragement during my trip. I had an incredible experience and absolutely recommend to any and everyone!

My surf lesson was amazing! The instructor was incredible, patient, and super helpful! Chris at the front desk was amazing with helping me book! I was also able to rent a board the next day, and Chris was super helpful again! I highly recommend Iguana!

Manrique was a great instructor! With his guidance, I was able to get up and stay on the board almost every time I tried. I had a fabulous time! Kurt was right when he warned me that surfing can be addictive! I recommend this surf school highly!

My husband and I booked a semi-private surf lesson with Iguana Surf while spending the day in Tamarindo, and we had such a great experience! We’re both in our 40s and had only surfed once before about 13 years ago, so we were definitely beginners. Booking online the day before was super easy, check-in was quick, and we thought the 90 min semi-private lesson was a great value. Our instructor, FIFO, was awesome! He was friendly, patient, encouraging and did a great job explaining everything without making it complicated. After some instruction on the beach, we headed into the water and were both getting up and riding waves pretty quickly. He made the entire experience fun and made us feel completely comfortable. They provide the boards and have lockers for your belongings, as well as an area to rinse off and change afterward. We had so much fun that we wanted to come back another day to rent boards, but couldn’t fit it into our schedule. We’re already planning to return next year with our kids and can’t wait to bring them for a family surf lesson. Highly recommend Iguana Surf if you’re visiting Tamarindo. And definitely ask for FIFO!

A+ surf lesson! Fifo was an amazing instructor and took my wife and I out for 90 minutes. Boards and transportation to and from hotel included. Fifo had us riding waves all day. In fact I caught every single wave with his guidance. 10/10!

Absolutely beautiful hotel with such a special atmosphere! The views are stunning, especially at sunset, and the recent renovations have made the entire place even more incredible. Everything is beautifully designed, comfortable, and welcoming. We absolutely loved the pool and the peaceful surroundings.
