Summer Dog Sledding Adventure in Willow, Alaska

Wonderful tour where we learned so much about what goes into preparing for the Iditarod race (for both the dogs and humans). Very informative and fun! Especially if you're a dog lover. We did the summer sled tour. Even though it was drizzling, we had a blast - and you get equipped with waterproof gear so you don't get mud on your clothes. We even got to visit with the brand new litter of puppies! Our guide, Dane, was phenomenal, and the dog team was even better! The pups deserve a raise in extra treats.

We had so much fun on our first “big” activity of our Alaska trip. The experience was super accommodating for our family of 4 including a 2 year old and 4.5 year old. Both kiddos LOVED the ride and my husband and I particularly enjoyed talking with Dane about all things dog sledding. After the ride my 2 year old kept saying “one more time!” And my 4.5 year old said she wants to do this every time in Alaska and it wasn’t just good - it was amazing! I would absolutely recommend this experience to other. It was so much fun!

This experience was better than I could ever imagine! From the time we arrived and spoke with Mathew the owner, to meeting the dogs and the dog handlers I felt that we had made the perfect choice for a Husky adventure. I would 1,000% recommend this tour. The ride was so fun and you could see how much the dogs enjoy what they do. We got to pet the dogs and hold some puppies. What a fun experience! It was wonderful to visit with the dogs and be amazed at their power and training. The owners and guides are so enthusiastic. We enjoyed learning about the Iditarod and its history too.

We absolutely loved this adventure. It was so much fun and very informative. Our guide was excellent. He has completed the Iditarod so he was able to really tell us all about it. The dogs were great and we even got to play with puppies, and hold some newborns. I highly recommend them!

The guys working were very patient and informative. They allowed and encouraged a tremendous amount of time petting and playing with the dogs and pups. We were able to see all 4 puppy litters as well as experience a fun mud puddle ride with the sled dogs. It was neat to see them all lightly training with intensive play/run sessions followed by very clear rest sessions which is necessary for them on their actual winter journey to Nome. One dog was still in training and the others really experts. Hearing the commands for left and right, feeling the sleigh on wheels and enjoying nature were great. A stop about half way for photos made it even more memorable. We really had an excellent time!

We had a terrific experience with Alaskan Husky Adventures! The staff were incredibly knowledgable and kind, and we loved meeting their race dogs and seeing them in action during our summer sledding adventure! To hear first-hand about the Iditarod Race from mushers who have run the race before was such a special experience, and to see how much care they provide each and every one of their dogs was really heart-warming. This tour was worth every penny, and we're so glad our tourism dollars help to support Matt's Iditarod race team. Good luck to you and your sweet dogs, Matt! The excursion visits a kennel that houses 50 amazing 4 legged athletes. A two mile ride through the Woodstock gives the visitors a small taste of the Itiderod experience. Our two guides were pleasant, charming guys and we were introduced to 50 energetic and very friendly Alaskan huskies. The visitors get pulled by 8 dogs for two miles. All four of us enjoyed the visit.

My daughter and her husband took the cart ride and had a blast. Truly an Alaska experience worth having.
