too expensive even if it is a place of memory that it is important to see for oneself

From 1870 to 1945, Alsace was a major war zone between France and Germany. This tour will explore the history of the Alsatians, first under German rule, then under French. We will discover remnants of these wars and visit Struthof (a concentration camp at 900 meters altitude), a Nazi German concentration camp. For a lighter touch, we will conclude the tour with a visit to one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Alsace and Christendom at Mont Sainte-Odile. It is important to bring a waterproof jacket and warm clothing depending on the weather. A written description and audio guide are available in English for Struthof. In the event of exceptional closures or road closures due to snow, a visit to the Alsace-Moselle Memorial will be offered. More information about my organization can be found on my website. Mickael was a great guide. He was very helpful with finding where my ship was ported, which was a little tricky. So thankful for the chance to revisit history and remember all those lost. We also had a nice trip to the monastery after with incredible views!!
A must-do if you are in the area. Very informative and very moving. Ideal for teenagers, especially as part of their school curriculum. Very pleasant reception staff.
Mickael is a great guide. Excellent communication before meeting, comfortable car (with excellent AC!) shared a lot of interesting info about the area, his family history as it relates to Alsace’s history and just general good tips for the area. Wear good shoes for the Struthof visit. The other stops after a heavy experience made the day end on a light note. On Struthof: if u know a lot of WWII history you can cruise through the indoor intro museum. If you don’t, make sure u read the info.
Scary and confronting.
This concentration camp forgotten history books, is to be visited absolutely for the duty of memory. Seeing that men can do to other human beings, is unthinkable. It is an interesting visit, too bad that the gas chamber cannot be visited every day.
Guided tour of the only French concentration camp. Many emotions and questions about the cruelty of some of our fellow human beings. In our opinion, visiting with a guide is not essential: all the information is available at the reception or during the crossing of the camp and its buildings.
Superb museum on a period of the very dark war where many photos testify to the atrocity of the camps built to exploit and exterminate innocent women and jmmes
Visiting a Nazi concentration camp is a sobering, saddening and educational experience. This camp is a unique experience, as it is the only one on French soil. Mickael conducted this tour with respect and dignity, allowing us to learn and immerse ourselves in the camp experience. He did a great job taking us through the Vosges mountains and an ancient abbey and small village. He is warm, engaging and informative. Highly recommend.
Thanks you Mickaël, we have a beautiful weather for trip.
We took a tour of the concentration camp and I highly recommend choosing this format more than an audio guide. The tour lasts 1h15 with the guide, it takes you to places you will not see if you just take the audio guide, it allows you to dive into the memories of this site full of history, suffering and atrocity. A place full of emotion, where the memory of all these deportees touches you in the heart. The tour ends with a museum and then gives you access to a tour of a gas chamber. A visit strong in emotion but which marks the spirits.
