Fun, full day of the best Salisbury has to offer!
I had such a fantastic time on my all-day tour of Salisbury & Stonehenge with Geoff. He’s a history buff who’s full of interesting stories, trivia, and — be ready for them — pop-quizzes (I loved those!) :)
I would not have wanted to try to plan the itinerary and the logistics on my own, so I was so happy to leave it all to them and be taken around everywhere. Btw, not everyone includes Avebury on their agenda (I almost didn’t) but I highly recommend it! I actually preferred it to Stonehenge because it’s more low-key, less touristy, but still a magical experience to be able to walk around and touch these massive stones that were so meaningful to humans from millenia ago.
Pro tip: be sure to wear some study shoes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty since the rains can turn the trails and turf into mud (at Avebury mainly).
I also recommend reading Sarum: A Novel of England before the tour. It’s a heavy tome of historical fiction, but if you can muddle through it, you can get into the stories ordinary individuals with complex plots that unfold in their lives amidst key times in history, such as the Magna Carta, the civil war and time of the Cavaliers and witch-burnings, and so on. Be sure to ask Geoff about it. ;)
Thanks again, Geoff, for being such a delightful, tireless guide!

Excellent Tour of Salisbury and Stonehenge with Ian
Ian met us at the port in Southampton with a smile on his face and a jovial disposition and didn't stop regaling us with his marvelous stories for the entire day! We felt like we were out for a drive in the country with an old friend and were sorry he couldn't join us for dinner that evening. Our visit to Stonehenge, Old Serum, Salisbury and Avebury will be one of the highlights of our 2-week European cruise for many years to come!

Spent all day with Geoff who was extremely helpful and knowledgable. Toured around the cathedral which Geoff got us into even though it was Easter. Toured around the sights of Salisbury, then out to Stonehenge, Woodhenge and Avebury. All of this was excellent, the information was free-flowing and interesting with Geoff showing his enthusiasm throughout. Lunch was provided in a pub along the way - typical pub grub but very nice. The trip seems very expensive but was well worth the money.
